What will you do in this role?
General Responsibilities:
Responsible for Leadership, Management, and Accountability Chart for (2) direct reports (Accounting Manager- Homebuilding and Accounting Manager- Land) and KPIs within responsible areas
Growing team members and supporting them in their career development
Preparing and maintaining Desk Level Procedures aligned with Oakwood & Clayton’s SOP (delegating to the team as appropriate)
Identifying areas of weakness and providing recommendations for improvement
Assisting team with problem-solving and escalations
Manage month-end close for Homebuilding and Land.
Ad hoc reporting and projects as assigned
Homebuilding Responsible for:
Manage the home closing process for timeliness and identify efficiencies.
Review closing journal entries and Gross Profit Reports for accuracy and completeness.
Review Revenue and Cost of Sales across Homebuilding, Shazam, and General Contracting
Manage the KOVA closing template and identify efficiencies.
Review CIP and CTC
Review Foundation Receivables
Manage Forward commitment accounting.
Review and Analyze Balance Sheet Reconciliations as assigned.
Responsible for mid-month cleanup of reconciling variances identified during month-end
Land Responsible for:
Review Land Accounting, Land Sales, Lot Sales, Price Participation, Internal Lot Transfers Elims related to land, and other misc. items related to Land financial activity and reporting
Review total inventory counts and reconcile the CPR against the GL and related accounting deliverables internally and externally.
Review Land Fund transactions, working closely with the Controller.
Review reconciliations between Land sub-ledger detail and GL.
Review Land Accounts Payable
Retention Tracking
Review Balance Sheet Reconciliations as assigned
General Contracting Responsible for:
Prepare Revenue and Cost Journal Entries and related elimination entries.
Manage monthly tracking of pay applications.
Work with the General Contracting management team with reporting needs and accounting questions
Accountable for all transactions posted against the General Contracting Market
Review monthly reconciliations
Review Balance Sheet Reconciliations as assigned.
You Have:
5+ years accounting experience, with 2+ years in a prior management role preferred
Must be creative and analytical, with the ability to work collaboratively with peers and team members
Prior roles managing a team
Prior home building, construction, and cost accounting experience a plus
Accounting degree required
Solid understanding of GAAP/SOX requirements
CPA/CMA preferred but not required
Strong customer & Team Member focus.
3+ years actively reconciling accounts
Strong Excel Skills
Detailed oriented and able to multi-task
Experience providing business support in a busy environment and prioritizing
Excellent management and communication skills

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 5 pounds.
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly

Expected Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 Annual Salary - This position is eligible for additional performance incentives in the form of quarterly bonus opportunity.
