HR Generalist II

Reports to: Chief Business Development Officer

Department: Human Resources

Job Status: Full Time, Salary

Mobility Profile: On Location

Position Summary: The HR Generalist role will be responsible for providing quality HR support and administration of the following competencies: employment practices, employee relations, compensation, and policy & procedure development for Harris Doyle Homes.  

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.  Establish credibility and impartiality when performing sensitive investigations.
  • Develop and enhance the appropriate HR practices and policies to support the business and meet the compliance requirements for the company as well as federal and state laws.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, determine issues and objectives, and support as needed
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage all personnel changes including pay and bonus changes, title changes, transfers, terminations, and new hires in Workday. 
  • Assist with leave of absence administration, including FMLA, ADA and parental leave.
  • Assist with the annual benefit enrollment process.
  • Provide HR services for pre-employment screenings to include background checks and drug screens.
  • Prepare compensation/offer letters.
  • Respond to the Berkshire Hathaway Ethics and Compliance hotline reports and assist in the investigations, as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to support the organization
  • Attend staff and other meetings as necessary or when requested.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • HR Professional Certification (SHRM CP/SCP or PHR) or be willing to obtain within first 6 months.
  • At least 3 years’ work experience in Human Resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and experience within an HRIS system
  • Can operate with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
