The Home Building Group is actively searching for Welding Team members for our home building facility in Bean Station, TN.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Welding Team Members perform the manufacturing production operations assigned to their team in the home building process. The position follows standard production methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

Production teams ensure that all homes meet sales orders, prints, specifications, and building codes, while ensuring a high quality standard in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safety: Practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible while observing all relevant OSHA regulations.
  • Productivity: Work in a team environment to produce products that conform to our quality standards while achieving our productivity objectives.
  • Stewardship: Serve as a good steward of our company’s physical assets, protecting them from damage and misuse, reporting all needed maintenance, keeping your assigned area clean, and orderly.
  • Planning: Assist your Team Leader and Area Coordinator to plan and organize the manufacturing activities in your area by communicating anticipated material shortages, identifying required tool maintenance, and communicating any quality and productivity issues.
  • Attendance: Meet all attendance requirements, available for start of shift at required time, following the attendance rules and regulations of the division.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Provide support to the Facilities & Operations Department through following actions:

  • Perform custom MIG/TIG welding
  • Skillfully weld stainless various types of steel, metals and materials
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, or otherwise sets pieces in place preparatory to welding, and measures dimensions for conformance to specifications.
  • Cleans and degreases parts to be welded using wire brushes, grinders, or solvents.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates such welding equipment as electric arc welders, gas shielded arc welders, and gas welders; selects proper electrodes, gas orifices, filter rods, and/or torch tips based on type of material being welded and desired bead size and penetration.
  • Under supervision fabricates and assembles complete devices or pieces of equipment by using metal forming and cutting tools such as presses, punches, brakes, pipe benders and threaders, and drills to bend, shape, and cut parts to be welded and bolted, screwed, or riveted together.
  • Competently read blueprints and drawings for fabrication of designs
  • Make repairs to tooling, equipment and parts
  • Processing of improvements of current equipment and designs
  • Forklift and Overhead Crane operations
  • Drive company vehicles as required
  • Paint materials
  • Prepare fabricated designs and materials for shipment to plants
  • Communicate needs for parts, equipment and upcoming orders
  • Other tasks as requested

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Must be able to work independently with a minimum of supervision
  • Must be oriented and capable of meeting daily goals for production
  • Dedicated to meet critical ship windows
  • Flexible hours mandatory
  • Travel mandatory
  • Effectively and efficiently perform all responsibilities and tasks safely and responsibly

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a high diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Technical School Degree in Welding. Will consider an individual with equivalent experience/testing
  • Must be able to perform duties in adverse conditions (example: Extreme outdoor heat and extreme outdoor cold)
  • Good Attendance Record
  • Five years or more years welding and fabrication or equivalent
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability
  • Welding and Shop Safety knowledge, demonstrated adherence to safety requirements
  • Stand, bend and kneel for entire scheduled shift
  • Adapt quickly, maintains proficiency, and makes sound decisions in a changing, fast-paced work environment
  • Communicate and listen effectively and respectfully, able to communicate efficiently and clearly with other Team Members and follow directives effectively.
