Position Summary 

This position is primarily responsible for US Central Distribution Centers in the US and the services it provides to Stryker’s internal and external customers globally. This role will promote teamwork and collaboration, quality performance standards, professionalism and integrity to ensure that SCO results are delivered in accordance with GQO and corporate strategic plans, objectives and its customers’ contractual agreements. This role has strategic oversight for and effective operation of logistics, distribution and service support for all US CDC offerings.
 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Sets the strategic plan, initiatives, and operational direction for the US CDC's and the operations therein that support divisional and customer standards.
  • Strategic oversight for implementing effective performance evaluations and for recommending the appropriate talent development strategy.
  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for the operating 3PL partner and ensure their service, quality and cost performance meets the needs of Stryker and Stryker’s customers and are aligned with expectations per applicable contracts.
  • Responsible for leading and assisting in the implementation of logistics operations, launches and initiatives. 
  • Influences the development of systems and procedures for operating and managing the facility, human capital, equipment, and products in a compliant and profitable manner.
  • Provides oversight to service providers (3PL) and lead support to Stryker divisions for the agreed upon design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of processes as required to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Liaison across all global stakeholders to ensure service standards and are understood and met as they relate to CDC service offerings.
  • Liaison between 3PL, GQO, Commercial, IT, HR, Finance, Security, Facilities, and Safety.
  • Oversight of CDC budgeting CAPEX requirements planning as well as the execution and adherence to GQO Profit and Loss statements.
  • Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that quality, service levels, operational performance goals are met within prescribed cost parameters and meet or exceed divisional and customer needs.
  • Promotes a culture of engagement and continuous improvement within the CDC that results in cost savings, safety, quality and productivity improvements.
  • Establish and enforce programs for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety and adherence to all federal, state and local statutes.
  • Responsible for building leadership competencies with direct reports and line leaders to ensure that they are coaching employees to meet and exceed their productivity and quality metrics.

Education and Experience:

  • 10+ years experience in multi-shift, multi-site, automated and labor-intensive distribution, logistics, manufacturing and supply chain operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • General management experience running a P&L in a high growth, high performance company focused on driving results.
  • Proven track record of academic and professional excellence.
  • Keen knowledge of how changes in any specific operational metric impacts overall performance.
  • Strong background dealing with analytics and problem solving, performing complex tasks, and working on complex projects in a fast-paced operations environment.
  • Experience aligning performance for success in a high-performance environment by setting goals, establishing an approach, creating a culture of learning and problem solving, collaboratively establishing development plans, tracking performance, and effectively evaluating performance.
  • Proven success in generating innovative solutions including challenging paradigms, leveraging diverse resources, and evaluating multiple solutions.
  • Background in new product introductions and supplier metrics is preferred; experience with ERP systems is required.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive results through a global matrix structure is required.
  • Proven ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical / quantitative skills.
  • Ability to make decisions, to work under pressure, and the capacity to exercise good judgment in critical situations.
  • Teamwork and customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrated planning and inventory management skills.
  • Hands on work experience with logistics management, warehousing, fulfillment, inventory, planning, order management and MRP computer systems are required.
  • APICS certification or other related certification a plus. Lean Training is also preferred. Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools, training and/or certification experience is highly preferred.
  • Fluency in English.  Fluency in a second language at international divisions is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Project Planning software, Flow Charts, and management of Database tools. Must have experience using statistical software packages and must be capable of extensive spreadsheet analysis.

  • Language Skills:  This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret complex instructions, correspondence, legal documents, financial reports and technical documents.  Must be able to respond effectively to clients, employees and Senior Leadership; as well as handle sensitive and confidential communications.  Requires a high level of skill in both oral and written communication and the ability to effectively present ideas and information.
  • Technical Skills:   Intermediate computer skill including the MS office suite of programs.  Ability to analyze financial results and develop ROI information on projects.  Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. Strong ability to analyze complex situations and develop/recommend solutions. Knowledge of supply chain tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues. Prior experience with Supply Chain management tools like Oracle, Trade Management, MRP, DRP a plus.

  • Available to travel and to provide on-call support after working hours while being sensitive to cultural differences.
