What you will do

The Senior Packaging Engineer leads the packaging development or maintenance of smaller projects or supports the packaging development of larger projects. Serve as a project mentor to other engineers under minimal supervision. Participate on cross-functional design teams to maintain existing design, address design issues or develop new packaging's according to given design or change control procedures.

  • Work with Program Managers and oversee technical teams to ensure project plans adhere to agree upon timelines and within the scope of the NPDP (New Product Development Process)/Maintenance (ECR) guidelines
  • Implement  state-of-the-art packaging concepts, technical solutions, international standardization and requirements (ISO, ASTM) into packaging development, work instructions and mentorship
  • Prepare packaging performance testing and agree acceptance criteria with biomechanical laboratories
  • Support the workflow of packaging engineers within the scope of assigned projects
  • Interacts with sub-suppliers for definition of packaging designs and generation of prototypes
  • Utilize advanced knowledge of the surgical procedure and relationships with clinical advisors to develop innovative solutions to solve problems and satisfy customer needs
  • Maintain relationships with key design consulting groups to recognize and anticipate industry trends and user needs
  • Gather input for design and evaluation of new packaging concepts and designs through adequate customer and user groups, such as sales force, hospital handling staff, nurses, surgeons
  • Partner with test laboratory/device evaluation on test method development and reliability testing. Support in implementing learnings into guidelines

What you need

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • 2+ years of product design or packaging experience

Preferred

  • Medical device industry experience
  • Packaging design development experience
  • Demonstrated familiarity of design/change controls within a regulated industry
  • (e.g. onePLM).

$75,300.00 - $156,900.00 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 10%
