As the Manager, Data Science and Applications, you will manage delivery of data science and light weight application solutions that improve business outcomes through process optimization and insight prediction related to our US Customer Intelligence function at Stryker.

What you will do

  • Develop talent and provide project leadership in the team's day-to-day project portfolio.
  • Lead and develop a team of data science and app development professionals while providing technical and project leadership in the team's day-to-day project portfolios.
  • Demonstrate financial acumen to develop financial impacts for existing projects and evaluating new opportunities.
  • Orchestrate collaboration with Stryker enterprise functions to leverage domain expertise and capabilities and identify areas of opportunity.
  • Lead change management and navigate pushback from the business
  • Lead discussions with data scientists and business stakeholders to identify opportunities where relevant concepts can be applied to real-world business opportunities. 
  • Mentor and coach seasoned data science and app development colleagues in developing their skills in the same.
  • Demonstrate creative ability to recommend visualizations of data that empower key business stakeholders more easily interpret complex information and quickly identify key insights they can trust.
  • Orchestrate presentations and communications through effective conveying of complex analyses up to the leadership level.
  • Mentor and influence in solving and correction of complex issues.

What you need

  • Bachelor's Degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or related field with applicable data science work experience.
  • 8+ years of work experience required.
  • 2+ years of people leadership experience preferred.
  • Master's Degree or higher in related discipline preferred.
  • Experience with project management specifically scrum and agile frameworks required.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle concepts, tools, best practices.
  • Experience leading peers through end-to-end data science and app development projects: from problem and requirements definition to model/algorithm validation and deployment.
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming and data structures required.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language central to AI/Data Science or app development (e.g. Python, R, Scala, Spark, R Shiny, etc) or skills in at least two programming languages required.
  • Experience in at least one statistical technique (e.g. time series modelling, classification, computer vision) or experience in at least two techniques required.

$126,500 - $279,500 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.

Travel Percentage: 30%
