The Walt Disney Travel Company (WDTC) Product Development team creates vacation packages for Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort and Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa! This role will be responsible for the negotiation, contracting, development, and implementation of WDTC products for all consumer and travel agent packages, Good Neighbor Hotel packages, as well as Costco vacation packages to the Disneyland Resort. This role requires a blending of skills related to contract negotiation, project management, technology, product analysis, and relationship management.

This position works in partnership with other areas across the Disneyland Resort and Aulani for the creation and set-up of annual, new, and promotional WDTC packages in multiple systems. The Product Development Manager is also the primary resource for our third-party partners, communicating regularly to maintain our business relationships, handling all requests and updates effectively, managing sales performance, and efficiently solving all problems and Guest inconvenience issues.

What You Will Do 

Manage specific products within the WDTC product Disneyland Resort portfolio, which includes 3 Disneyland Resort hotels, approximately 60 Good Neighbor Hotels, transportation, Southern California destination hotels, attractions, insurance and resort offers, and unique products. 

  • Manage the Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa portfolio, which includes room type inventory, transportation, insurance, resort offers, and unique products.

  • Manage contract negotiations inclusive of rates, room block inventory, season dates, and booking policies. Work with Legal in the development of specific agreements and policy changes. 

  • Collaborate across the Disneyland Resort and Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa (Pricing, Revenue Management, Ticketing, Sales, Park Operations, Hotel Operations, Marketing, Legal, etc.) in the concert, planning, development, and implementation of package components, special packages, offers, and promotions. 

  • Review sales performance and forecast for specific packages and products. 

  • Partner closely with Pricing, Accounting, Finance, Product Operations, and Digital on the set-up and modifications of product in multiple systems, including hotel room categories. 

  • Collaborate with the sales organization to secure a deep understanding of sales strategy and opportunities to increase sales.

  • Develop and maintain product content for Cast intranet site as well as Digital websites to ensure information is up to date and accurate. 

  • Develop automated solutions to streamline processes and reporting needs. 

  • Cultivate a strong network of internal and external partners responsible for the sourcing and fulfillment of product components. 

  • Monitor travel trends and government regulations to ensure compliance. 

  • Communicate effectively and proactively with Reservation Sales, Guest Services, Product Operations, and Inventory Support teams for awareness of new product offerings, sales promotions, and policy changes. 

  • Foster relationships with the Travel Industry Sales team and coordinate Good Neighbor Hotel room tours and product tradeshows for Agent Education Programs and other travel agent events. 

  • Manage the coordination of routine Good Neighbor Hotel site inspections. 

  • Facilitate training opportunities for the WDTC Cast, including Good Neighbor Hotel Open Houses, trade shows, breakroom vendor visits, and other events. 

  • Effectively solve complex and multi-layered problem

    Required Qualifications & Skills  

    • Minimum of 5 years of travel industry experience. 

    • In-depth knowledge of the WDTC product portfolio, sales processes, policies, and reservation systems. 

    • Ability to think strategically and able to provide sound product recommendations. 

    • Ability to lead projects and articulate compelling business cases. Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels of management and external partners. 

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage successful working relationships with internal and external partners. 

    • Self-motivated and dedicated to performing above expectations. 

    • Exceptional planning and organizational skills with the ability to deliver against set deadlines. 

    • Able to operate in a fast-paced environment with continuously shifting priorities, paying close attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a strong commitment to deadlines. 

    • Problem-solving skills, as well as continuous process improvement skills. 

    • Ability to introduce and implement technical enhancements in order to support business growth and flexibility. 

    • Adept at working with technical teams (Digital, Product Operations, System Analyst). 

    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint). 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Knowledge of WDTC Reservation Systems (Travelbox, SBC, and UAD). 

    • Knowledge of Business Objects, SharePoint. 

    • Skilled at Project Management 

    Required Education

    • Bachelor’s Degree.

    Preferred Education

    • Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

    The hiring range for this position in California is $92,800 to $124,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
