The Disney-owned station WABC has been the leader in local news and entertainment programming in the New York City area for more than 60 years. Producing more than 45 hours of live, local news and weather each week, Channel 7 “Eyewitness News” is the most-watched local news in New York and the United States.
This position supports the Sr. Manager, Human Resources, in all manners of administrative and cyclical processing tasks and to deliver quality service to employees by answering queries or escalating issues as necessary. The success candidate has the ability to take ambiguous situations and provide clarity. They work with functional subject matter experts, team members, and leaders to complete tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Provides high quality, timely and professional client service and follow through to ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Ensures timely and accurate employee payroll processing for daily hire (union/non-union) positions in partnership with WABC Finance and Disney Payroll team
- In partnership with HR Operations, support on-boarding and off-boarding activities.
- Assist in advising and providing guidance in the administration of HR related policies, procedures and best practices.
- Partners with the Talent Acquisitions team and ensure compliance with FCC laws - posting all WABC job openings.
- Stay current on changes to HR policies and processes, and communicate changes to appropriate audiences.
- Proactively document, maintain, and organize area practices and protocols related to HR policy administration and standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an HR or customer/client service oriented professional role.
- Proven ability to work with confidential information – while exercising sound judgment and decision-making
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment – while being flexible, adaptable, and demonstrating an ability to problem-solve
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook; and the Internet
- Ability to effectively manage project work while balancing priorities
- Approachable style: ability to connect with employees and establish rapport
- Solid knowledge of HR systems, policies, and processes, including SAP (Display HR Master Data, Org hierarchy overview, and Display position), hiring approval process, performance management process, and talent and succession planning processes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Business
