Job Description:

Under the oversight of the Senior Manager of Technical Operations with Disney Cruise Line, the HVAC and Refrigeration Manager is responsible for the oversight of Disney Cruise Line® Fleet Maintenance and Technical support in relation to installed air-conditioning and refrigeration systems. This Manager will oversee compliance with technical aspects for Port State, Classification Society, US Environmental Protection Agency and International Code requirements. Under areas of responsibility, this Manager investigates reported Fleet HVAC and Refrigeration issues and verifies corrective and preventive actions taken to address them.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in control of budgets for areas of responsibilities in order to maintain equipment operation and availability.
  • Oversee regulatory compliance with current requirements, working alongside the Safety, Security and Environmental Policy and Compliance Team and Government agencies in an open and transparent manner.
  • Oversee Fleet Technical Maintenance, verifying correct submission of and archiving of reports and returns under respective Company and Legislative guidelines.
  • See that planned, corrective and preventive maintenance is completed and recorded correctly within the Company Asset Management Operating System (AMOS).
  • Monitor operational and engineering standards for the Disney Cruise Line® Fleet HVAC and refrigeration installations.
  • Conduct periodic review of Company Safety Management System (SMS) advising of changes/amendments as required.
  • Contribute to long-term Fleet HVAC and Refrigeration update/upgrade planning.
  • Monitor Fleet refrigeration gas usage and confirm compliance with applicable Codes and Legislation.
  • See to compliance with relevant section of the SMS, keeping the Senior Manager Technical Operations informed of vessel performance.
  • Monitor monthly status reports on overdue maintenance including key equipment.
  • SMS responsibility for upholding the general safety management responsibilities specified in SMS within areas under their control.

Safety Management System (SMS) Responsibilities:

  • Implementation of the general safety management responsibilities for project managers as detailed within the company Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Responsible for implementing Safety Management System policies and procedures relative to project related areas of responsibilities, ensuring operating procedures pertaining to both shipboard and shore-based technical operating practices are in place and functioning in compliance with the SMS. 
  • Assists and keeps the Senior Manager Technical Operations informed of ongoing and planned project related issues and content involving SMS content.
  • Run monthly status reports on progress of project installation equipment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • EPA Universal Certification
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in HVAC–R
  • Possess excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
  • Experience with change management processes.
  • Experience writing and providing weekly/monthly reports on activities completed/ongoing; include assisting the vessels Dry Dock wish lists and or in service project requests.
  • Proven computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems/software as needed.
  • Experience in the use of computer-based maintenance systems (AMOS preferred)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in and maintain a diverse inclusive environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience in project management of high value engineering projects.
  • Ability to source and understand relevant regulations, guidance, build specification and technical drawings. 
  • Demonstrated detailed knowledge of IMO, MARPOL and US EPA requirements for refrigerant gasses.
  • Ability to work nights/weekends and travel domestic and internationally as required.

  Preferred qualifications

  • Previous leadership experience within Engineering or HVAC-R
  • Experience in cruise vessel or Maritime related industry.
  • Experience within dry docks and or new builds  
  • Knowledge of AMOS computer-based maintenance systems

Education

  • HVAC-R Trade School, HVAC-R Trainings/Certifications, or relevant work experience
