Collins Aerospace is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Interiors business class seating department located in Winston-Salem, NC. Team culture is extremely collaborative and engaged, we value our customer, our products, and our people (that means you). Gain experience supporting our signature products for the Military. This position is onsite, based out of our Winston-Salem, NC site location, may be eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Participate in product development activities including engineering studies, feasibility studies, cost estimates, implementation of standard and non-standard specifications, drawing board layout and interpretation, and development of performance or maintenance requirements.
  • Execute tests for systems, sub-systems, and components. Analyze test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives.
  • Follow all appropriate design, safety, and qualification standards in development programs.
  • Work toward commonality and optimization of product & components to reduce design errors and escapes.
  • Works under supervision to provide technical support to engineers on a variety of engineering tasks.
  • Research, plans, designs, and develops mechanical products and systems in areas including, but not limited to, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic, or heat transfer for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
  • May evaluate and analyze various mechanical products to determine their cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
  • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions.
  • Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects.
  • Plans and executes experiments and gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as engineering design changes to support engineering disciplines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)
  • 3D Modeling Experience
  • FEA experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Courses or projects in structural and sheet metal design
  • Siemens NX and Team Center experience

The salary range for this role is 53,000 USD - 103,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
