Given our continued success and growth, we have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Engineering Officer within the Joint Battlespace Systems (JBS) product line on the Woomera Test Range Support Services (WTRSS) Program. The Woomera Test Range, located in South Australia, is the world’s largest overland test environment, comparable to the size of England, and is one of Australia’s most critical national security assets. Raytheon Australia’s integrated range solution provides the Australian Defence Force with one of the most advanced test, experiment, and training environments in the world. As Senior Engineering Officer, you will contribute to the success of the WTRSS Program through providing technical and leadership abilities to engineering team on a variety of different leading-edge equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, creative technical solutions to a range of complex problems to support project objectives, such as applying technical expertise to support project system design and analysis activities.
• Develop Engineering design changes.
• Failure Mode and Effect Analysis.
• Maintain and Update Engineering databases.
• Development of Engineering and technical reports.
• Perform technical risk analysis as required.
• Plan, document and execute Verification and Validation activities.
• Obsolescence monitoring.
• Maintaining technical publications.
• Tasks as directed in support of the project.
• Providing support and guidance to internal and external maintenance teams.
• Ensure assigned tasks are delivered in accordance with agreed key performance indicators and within cost, schedule and performance specification constraints.
• Perform systems analysis to derive function, performance and interface requirements to satisfy the system requirements.
• Identify and escalate program risks using defined processes.
• Mentor junior team members to build team skills in systems engineering methodology, as well as the required tools and procedures.
• Travel will be required within Australia including Woomera, and possibly internationally, to fulfil the requirements of this role.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering, in a relevant discipline, with a minimum of 6 years relevant post-qualification experience required.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills essential.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at client, peer, supplier and senior leadership levels.
• Requires understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritising, coaching and process execution.
• Knowledge of Systems and Sustainment Engineering process.
• Knowledge of Information Security Manual (ISM).
• Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
• High level of computer literacy coupled with strong Microsoft Office application skills.
• Experience with relevant platform and systems experience (Command and Control, Communications and Networks, Radars, Optical Tracking, and Telemetry Systems).
• Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
• Knowledge of project management milestones coupled with the ability to work autonomously or with minimal supervision to deliver completed work according to scheduled commitments.
• Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and adequacy.
• Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
• Demonstrated experience within a Defence environment.
