The Quality Supervisor oversees the execution of Quality Assurance for daily production operations of the Interior Lighting Product Business Unit. In this roll you will oversee an inspection team which consists of Receiving Inspection, FAI Inspection, QC Inspection, and Final Inspection personnel supporting OEM and MRO. This position directs and coordinates inspection of parts, sub-components, and final product produced by suppliers and manufacturing with consideration of day-to-day goals and objectives for each team member. Reviews and assists with quality problems affecting compliance related to processes, hardware, and documentation by consulting with the Quality Assurance Engineering Team and Project/Manufacturing Engineers.  Communicates with appropriate functional teams and customers when problems arise with consideration to production impact while mindful of policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.

This is an onsite role based at our Bohemia, NY site and some travel may be expected. May be eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assess inspection requirements and assign inspection projects and tasks to inspection personnel. Ensures conformance to Bohemia policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates training of personnel in the implementation of inspection policies and procedures.
  • Work with all levels of employees to resolve problems in real time and keep production on schedule within inspection requirements.
  • Evaluates and monitors employee performance through performance plans and assessments, develop performance objectives, coaching and counseling.
  • Resolves employee conflicts with coaching and escalation if required.  Apply logical analysis for problem solving and troubleshooting for resolution.
  • Initiates or recommends plans to motivate employees to achieve goals and objectives.  Champion’s the organization’s culture and communicates vision and goals regularly.
  • Prepares and presents information such as results, metrics and processes to management and employees.
  • Demonstrates equipment operations and safety procedures to new employees or assigns employees to experienced workers for OJT (on the job training).
  • Support CORE activities such as developing Standard Work, leading events for inspection processes.
  • Monitor and approve timecards for Inspection Team.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reviewing quality strategy, practices, and procedures to ensure the customer requirements, regulatory, and internal policies and procedures are met. Perform independent reviews and assessments of the Inspection program performance including cost, schedule, and risks.
  • Identifies and addresses areas where the inadequacy of the Inspection program plans, requirements, analyses, risk mitigation plans, etc., have the potential to impact overall mission success.
  • Provides primary input to manager for hiring, firing, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports. Responsibilities include talent management and IDP (Individual Development Plan).  Monitor team members development and conduct.
  • Leads, directs, and reviews the work of inspection team members to accomplish operational plans and results.
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution. Requires specialized knowledge of technical or operational practices such as drawings and specifications.
  • Support Internal/External audits including providing feedback on non-compliance and corrective action(s). Compliance covers both the OEM as well as Aftermarket Operations and some MRO processes.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) or Work Transfer projects as applicable to Inspection activity.
  • Manage Net-Inspect First Article Inspection process, lead inspection team to prepare First Article and/or Quality reports and/or other related inspection test data to support inspections of incoming material for acceptance before placing in stores.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior quality experience in a manufacturing environment
  • RCCA experience
  • Prior quality inspection and AS9100
  • Ability to understand and follow Quality policies, procedures, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Aerospace Experience

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
