Job Summary:


Reporting to the Sustainment Program Manager, the Project Engineer will support the management of multiple projects and teams for the Operations & Sustainment Program. The successful candidate will have experience with project management processes and tools, including Earned Value Management, and will have experience in successfully managing multidisciplinary teams in complex project environments, especially within systems, electronics, mechanical and software engineering disciplines.

The Project Manager will integrate efforts between all functions (operations, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, engineering, and others as required) to manage risk ensuring the teams meet the customer and stakeholder requirements and delivering upon cost, schedule and project criteria.

This position will eventually relocate from El Segundo, CA to Washington, DC.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  •  Deputy Leadership of multiple projects including product development running concurrently and in conjunction with other project managers.
  • Provides support for the program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality and customer satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Accountable for the delivery of all project milestones.
  • Effective management and mitigation of project risk.
  • Generate a strong focus on customer relationships whilst motivating team members on delivering internal objectives.
  • Provide regular and effective project performance updates to management including key project metrics such as schedule and cost performance.
  • Pro-actively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks and define mitigation actions.
  • Participate and lead continuous improvement activities to drive efficiency and eliminate waste within processes.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Previous experience within a project engineer role.
  • Experience with Microsoft project required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to demonstrate leadership, drive results, solve problems and possess interpersonal skills.
  • Good working knowledge of word, PowerPoint and excel.
  • Good communications skills.
  • A good awareness of business processes.

The salary range for this role is 105,000 USD - 221,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
