Job Summary:

Mechanical Engineers perform research, design, analysis, and development in such areas as mechanical systems, thermal systems, materials, test equipment, hardware processes, or manufacturing processes.

Organizational departments are aligned by the various technical disciplines and design products/services they provide:

  • Mechanical Subassemblies and Equipment
  • Platform Integration
  • Undersea and Electronic Systems
  • Hardware Engineering Process Group
  • Configuration and Data Management
  • Materials Engineering
  • Product and Test Equipment Development
  • Manufacturing Engineering and Hardware Development
  • Circuit Card Assembly Engineering

This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Design, development, testing and production support of mechanical and/or electro-mechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines.

This position can be a technical intern based on the candidate's classification as determined by grad year on resume and provided via questionnaire by candidate as outlined below:

  • (Sophomore Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
  • (Junior Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
  • (Senior Technical) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program
  • (Post-Graduate Technical) must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications) by start of internship

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be Sophomore, Junior, Senior or Post Graduate by the start of summer 2024 in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling
  • Experience with engineering modeling tools and software such as MATLAB
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Academic experience with statics and dynamics of rigid bodies
  • Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO.
  • Experience in understanding and applying Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to models and drawings as well as understanding and executing tolerance analysis calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers who have diverse experiences, communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles

  • Onsite : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
  • Hybrid : Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.
  • Remote : Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

Clearance Information: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
