Job Description

We are hiring for a Senior Certification Engineer onsite, in Miami, FL. Reporting to the Certification Manager, the Sr. Certification Engineer will be responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process for business jet aircraft seats and seating components.

This position does offer relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs standard engineering assignments usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and make design decisions.
  • Represents the Structural Certification team in internal technical and design reviews.
  • Compiles FAA certification documentation for submission to aircraft OEM's and regulatory agencies.
  • Responsible for the review and approval of design changes for certification substantiation.
  • Supports design optimization tasks (e.g. weight reduction, certification by analysis).
  • Leads component level and certification testing as required. Performs material selection and material specification correlation.
  • Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering project.
  • Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects.
  • Provides technical leadership to a small group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians.
  • Ensures successful completion of the assigned project phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints.
  • Participates in defining of engineering approaches and in planning/scheduling work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work with various organizations/product lanes internally and support the team to success.
  • Familiarity with various tasks involved in certification and testing of airplane interior components.
  • 3 or more years of Engineering and/or Certification/Test experience
  • Ability to identify and understand failure modes of systems.
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
  • Working knowledge of PMA/TSO/STC/OEM qualification and certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with team members and cross functional teams.
  • Prior experience reviewing and approving drawings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare and give presentations.
  • Experience and familiarity with FEA modeling applications including the review of analysis results is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite applications and engineering related software programs.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
