We are currently seeking an Assembler for our Waterloo, Ontario location.  Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Assembler role is part of the Operations team. This position performs a variety of repetitive and non-repetitive assembly operations on component parts, sub-assemblies or completed units. The Assembler will actively contribute to a smooth workflow and efficient, compliant manufacturing environment through various duties such as assembly, disassembly, re-assembly, fabrication, repair and/or inspection of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems. The Assembler will compare part identification with the pick list, ensure use of the right parts and visually inspect parts to ensure that they are undamaged.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows operational procedures (routing, work instructions, etc.) and maintains production records associated with electrical assemblies. 
  • Solder and manually place components such as resistors, diodes, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, wires and other electronic parts to designated locations or printed circuit board to IPC Class 3 standard
  • Install, mount, fasten, align and adjust parts, components, wiring and harness to sub-assemblies and assemblies using hand and power tools
  • Work with minimal direction from specified drawings to solder and manually assemble electronic components onto circuit boards requiring fine hand assembly
  • Conducting in-process and final quality inspections as required, check quality of work before handing off unit to next production cycle
  • May route, dispatch and expedite flow of material
  • Requesting materials from production control needed to ensure a continuous flow of materials
  • Keeping the relevant logbooks up to date with various parameters in order to establish efficient operations using statistical process control
  • Performing other tasks such as cleaning, marking, protecting and packing parts
  • Responsible for the completion of ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Operations Manager

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 3-5 years electronics soldering experience
  • Advanced solder capabilities trained per IPC Class 3 Standard
  • Proficiency in soldering both Surface Mount Technology and through-hole components
  • Ability to read and understand basic schematic diagrams and assembly drawings
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrate proper use of simple hand, machine tools and mechanical measuring devices
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft suite of programs
