Collins Aerospace’s Avionics Product Line is seeking an energetic Value Stream Leader (VSL) to lead the pursuit and execution of multiple research and development projects. This position in the Advanced Systems & Architectures (ASA) organization is for an enthusiastic, senior professional with experience in Program Management.

This role leads programs that develop next-generation, innovative technologies critical to the future success of the Avionics business unit. The successful candidate will use their understanding of Avionics market segments to identify Collins’ discriminators, build business cases to gain approval of internal funding, and identify, pursue and capture external funding to mature technologies to a point they can transition to existing product lines or into production programs.

This is an Onsite role located at our Cedar Rapids location. Our Melbourne, FL site is an alternate location.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead innovative R&T programs and manage matrixed teams
• Partner with Avionics’ technical and strategy leads to identify gaps and develop executable plans for key technology development
• Responsible for growing Avionics’ relationship with NASA R&T
• Identify and pursue public funding and co-funding opportunities in alignment with the Avionics Advanced Technology strategic focus areas and Product Line needs
• Develop program plans, schedules, and budgets for internally and externally funded programs and manages them to successful completion
• Execution responsibilities include customer engagement, cost, schedule, technical performance, risk management and milestone completion for assigned programs
• Supports strategic planning efforts, technology progression roadmaps, contract negotiations, and oversees key subcontractor relationships with small businesses and Universities
• Collaborate with other Collins Aerospace business units on R&T projects and pursuits.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Typically requires: 

Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR  Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience OR  

In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required  

U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prefer experience leading capturing and executing external S&T contracts
• Prefer experience leading Avionics projects in the areas of Autonomy, Cyber Security, Open Systems Architecture, Formal Methods, and/or Next Gen Flight Deck 
• The successful candidate will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, teamwork, critical thinking skills, and experience capturing S&T funding to augment internal investments.
• U.S. Citizen is preferred and the ability to obtain Security Clearance is desired

This role is also eligible for the Re-Empower Program. The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
