The DSR BI Tools Solution Owner is a critical role responsible for the successful delivery of the BI tools that meet the needs of our stakeholders and maximizes value for end users and the business. They are a collaborative leader who works closely with the BI Delivery and Strategy Teams, BI Certified Self-Service users, and other stakeholders, to achieve desired outcomes. The DSR BI Tools Solution Owner plays a critical role in ensuring successful solution delivery. By fulfilling their responsibilities and building strong relationships, they can foster innovation, maximize value, and achieve desired outcomes.


Responsibilities

Define and Own the Solution Vision: Articulate a clear and concise vision for the solution, outlining its strategy, goals, objectives, and desired outcomes. This vision serves as a guiding light for the entire delivery process and ensures alignment among all stakeholders.  The DSR BI Tools Solution Owner is in charge of creating and maintaining the framework that enables BI creators and users in the organization to publish, share, manage, and connect to data sources and the appropriate BI tool(s).

Backlog Prioritization: With the assistance and cooperation of the delivery team, prioritize the backlog of solution features and work items based on their impact, feasibility, and alignment with the overall vision. This ensures that the most valuable work is delivered first.

Solution Planning: Develop a comprehensive roadmap for solution delivery, including milestones, release schedules, and dependencies. This roadmap ensures transparency, facilitates collaboration, communication, and helps to manage expectations.

Market and Stakeholder Understanding: Maintain a deep understanding of the market landscape, competitor offerings, and user needs. Regularly engage with your BI stakeholders at all levels to gather input, address concerns, and build consensus.

Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively and transparently with all stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress, challenges, and risks. This builds trust, manages expectations, and fosters collaboration.

Reporting: Generate and maintain reports that track progress, measure key performance indicators, and provide insights into solution effectiveness, using data to drive informed decision-making and ensure goal and delivery alignment. This also includes monitoring usage of published data sources and tools, the success of extract refresh tasks, user activity, and so on.  Monitor the availability and measure the extent of performance, ensuring BI meets service level requirements. Monitor business use and performance of the BI and provide feedback to DSR Domain Owners.

Maximize Value Delivery: Continuously seek opportunities to improve the solution and deliver increased value to both end users and stakeholders. This involves actively collecting feedback, analyzing data, and innovating to optimize outcomes. 

Access and Security: Manage user accounts and access privileges. Administer user access and security.  Create projects to help manage users’ access (permissions) to data sources and workbooks that are published to the site. Set default groups and permissions for all content on a standard project, lock the project, and then use it as a template for additional projects you create.  Projects can also serve as development and UAT environments.  Perform permissions work with site roles to make up a user’s access to the site and its content. Centrally manage data source permissions.

BI Administration: Monitor the physical data that projects are adding to the existing BI environment. Evaluate how the BI is being altered, and ensure efficient performance of the BI environment.  Conduct regular performance monitoring, testing, and tuning.  Analyze usage patterns and downtime. Manage maintenance processes and procedures. Develop, manage, schedule and document BI operations and tasks, including extraction, movement, loading, archival, security, backup and aggregate table creation. Document configuration and integration with applications and network resources. Manage requests for changes, and prioritize work based on business needs and available resources.  Ensure development, UAT, and production environments are up and running at appropriate times.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, BI, data science, computer science, economics, Information Management, or related analytical field

3+ years of BI, business analysis, data analysis, consulting/advisory and/or project or client management experience, ideally in an enterprise environment and across multiple application systems and business functions

2+ years’ experience in Tableau Server Administartion

Working knowledge of AWS tools (especially QuickSight, Redshift Query Editor, Glue DataBrew, Sage Maker Canvas, Athena) and Tableau

AWS Cloud Services and working Azure highly preferred; any Cloud Service Management experience preferred

Have high flexibility in working hours/days for maintenance activities and responding to help desk requests after hours on a limited basis

Experience providing overall support to a large user base is a required

Must have solid communication, analysis and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing problems

Possess experience maintaining, managing and documenting standards, policies, and procedures 

Possess experience managing software licensing and SLA’s with client and vendors

Fluent English is necessary

Experience in Corporate Real Estate a plus
