Job Posting Title:

Walt Disney Animation Studios - Technical Support Intern, Summer 2024

Req ID:

10063855

Job Description:

About the Role & Team

Have you wondered how your skills and talents could translate into the world of animation? Our Internship Program dives into the craft, technology, and operations behind our animated films while developing your skills and connecting you to industry mentors. You'll learn what it means to be a part of a collaborative team and how your unique talents can grow within our studio. Find yourself immersed in hands-on projects and learning guided by our artists, technologists, and production leaders.

For our 2024 programs, we are committed to providing mentorship and development. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Internship Program provides emerging talent with an immersive view of animation through educational seminars on craft and filmmaking, reinforced by individual and technical projects.

What You Will Do

The Desktop Services team provides tech support to the studio, as well as drives the engineering behind our user-device experience. Desktop Services is made up of our Helpdesk, which provides front-line support; our Systems Operations (“SysOps”) team, which provides support for hardware device configuration and installation; and our Desktop Engineering team, which specializes in the desktop experience for our many user workflows in the building or working remotely. The teams are made up of Technical Support Engineers (TSEs), Systems Administrators, and System Engineers.

Recent efforts the Desktop Services team has driven include major updates to our high-end user desktop computer systems, improvements to our work-from-home systems that enable artists to securely access workstations within our studio environment, and assisting with the rollout of major computer OS version updates.

As a team-based intern, you will join the Desktop Services team to participate in the team’s daily processes. You will work closely with the team manager, as well as the team members, to learn and assist with various support tasks, as well as larger projects and initiatives related to the user desktop experience within the animation studio. By the end of the term, you will be intimately familiar with WDAS and many of its inner workings.

The ideal candidate would have a general interest in technology and a passion for helping others but also be interested in a relevant area of study, like computer science, engineering, or animation.
