About the Role & Team
Our Public Relations team for Walt Disney World is looking for a Senior Specialist to join their dynamic and exciting team! In this Senior Specialist position, you would have a one-of-a-kind role in which you would be involved in all facets of Public Relations – from media relations, content creation, and events to the business behind the magic – things like strategy, integrated communications, and of course, showcasing success. More specifically, you would be the Public Relations lead for Disney's Animal Kingdom, our Water Parks, and all media outreach involving celebrity visits. In addition, you could also be assigned to other duties across the Public Relations department as needed such as press events involving hundreds of media from around the world, launches of new attractions, new product offerings in our parks, and the openings of new resorts. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Public Relations for Walt Disney World's Parks and Resorts. Excited? Then this is the role for you!
What You Will Do
- Create and manage integrated communication plans including collaborating with partners, message development/storytelling, overseeing asset creation, securing approvals, and more
- Develop story ideas, messaging, and creative content for multiple communication platforms including blog posts, website, social, and other owned digital platforms
- Coordinate with internal partners to conduct research to support communication plans
- Maintain owned channels/platforms to ensure alignment with ongoing business priorities
- Monitor and analyze communication activations to inform strategy
- Assist in the creation of decks/presentations for executive leadership on Communications and Public Relations priorities, projects, and campaigns
- Cultivate and maintain effective internal & external relationships with local and national media members, key partners, and other crucial partners
- Support media relations, inclusive of developing pitches and hosting media, supporting on-site and off-site press event needs
Required Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of communications experience
- Experience influencing diverse teams
- Strong organization, administrative, and time management skills; the ability to execute on multiple projects with competing priorities, and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent writing and storytelling, presentation, and research skills, with an understanding of how to optimally communicate to different audiences
- Experience managing projects and campaign initiatives with an understanding of overarching goals, objectives, and relevant considerations
- Proficiency with Associated Press writing style
- Understanding of the media landscape and experience working with media
- Ability and willingness to learn new software applications
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of social media platforms/content creation
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Operational knowledge of or experience with the Walt Disney Company
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other content creation platforms
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in more than one language
- Previous experience working in the theme park industry
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
