Project Kuiper is a new initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

The Role:
Create FPGA solutions to support Amazon Project Kuiper’s satellite communication system. This is a unique opportunity to define a groundbreaking
new system with few legacy constraints. As an FPGA Development Manager you will work with internal product and engineering teams to define/develop/implement/test/release FPGA based solutions to enable Project Kuiper. This will include managing the creation and validation of digital designs for computer networking and digital communication products using the latest generations of FPGA technologies and modern FPGA design processes and tools.

The Role:
Create FPGA solutions to support Amazon Project Kuiper’s satellite communication system. This is a unique opportunity to define a groundbreaking new system with few legacy constraints.
In this role you will:

-Manage a team of 6-12 FPGA design engineers in the development, test, delivery and support of multiple FPGAs to be released into production products.

- Provide FPGA project management for multiple concurrent product developments executed across multiple development teams.

- Interface to Program Managers to represent the FPGA projects that you are the project manager of and partner to ensure effective communication of development phases, schedules, dependencies, goals & priority.

- Work with FPGA architects, FPGA design engineers, FPGA verification engineers, FPGA physical design engineers to ensure and efficient and successful development and delivery of FPGAs through all phases of development.

- Collaborate with FPGA architects, system architects, FPGA design engineers and SW design engineers during product architecture phases of development to ensure development schedules, risks, priorities are understood and considered early in the development process

- Collaborate with communication systems architects & design teams, HW engineering design teams & FW/SW design teams to facilitate the bring up and test of systems combining FPGA, firmware, RF, and Networking functions.

- Create and develop strong cross-functional working relationships with partners in SW, FW, ASIC, EE, ME, SQA & program management to ensure the successful phased release/integration and communication of FPGA deliverables into the overall Kuiper product.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of hands on engineering experience in high end FPGA development
- 10+ years of experience in developing Computer Networking designs and products
- 5+ years of experience in directly managing a team of 4-8 FPGA engineers
- Experience in establishing goals, setting priorities, executing priorities and using data and metrics vs time to inform decisions and measure progress
- Record of success in the design, test, delivery & support of multiple production FPGAs shipping to customers in high volume
- Hands on experience with leading in the lab debugging of test failures at FPGA, Software & System levels in both engineering and customer scenarios

Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline,
- MBA or equivalent experience in management and leadership
- Experience working on Wired and Wireless Networking Products
- Experience with 10Gbps, 25Gbps, 100Gbps Ethernet - Experience with Ethernet Switches
- Experience with TCP/IP Networking protocols and standards
- Experience with IXIA and Spirent test equipment
- Proven track record of successfully fielding and field supporting multiple FPGAs concurrently while in production
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
