Prime Air is seeking an experienced In-service Quality Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities. This leader will have a strong background in Quality engineering principles, Drone assembly integration and flight operational systems of complex products and processes with a demonstrated ability to be self-sufficient, and get the right things done quickly and effectively.

Key job responsibilities
-Drive Design for Excellence (Reliability, Quality, Maintenance, etc.) efforts with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Test and Systems Engineering teams
- Develop and implement quality processes and continuous improvement activities for operations at scale
- Provides detailed reports of audits and initiates corrective actions as required with follow-up to drive product quality and process compliance
-Perform analysis on reported nonconformities and discrepancies related to in service operations, process, mechanical, electrical or electro mechanical etc. as feedback mechanism to influence product design and/or processes, and metrics for KPIs
- Create, evaluate and/or approve detailed reports, quality assessments, root cause corrective actions and implementation plans
-Proficient in creating detailed quality reports with strategies to improve processes through customer feedback to identify potential flaws in a manufactured product and implementing necessary changes
-Effective written and oral communications to interface with internal and external teams to promote safe, high quality, cost effective products and services at scale
- Analyze process capabilities/performance and innovate to simplify processes, reduce defects, optimize cycle time in-service operations

Export Control License
This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon’s ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.

A day in the life
In this role, you will support in- service fleet operations of our next generation delivery drone system and service. You will represent Quality, and will work with Flight operations, Engineering, Supply chain and various stakeholders to identify and control the critical inputs in the end-to-end processes throughout the drone’s lifecycle. You will be primary interface for quality related matters, such as but not limited to, participate in design reviews, lead in-service quality investigations, perform detailed trend analysis for related quality issues, identify top issues in pareto format, create/present weekly quality performance metrics and status, conduct onsite audits, lead RCCA activities, as well as mitigate potential risks to the processes.

Basic Qualifications:

- 5 proven years’ experience in Quality Assurance or engineering role, with at least 3 years of quality engineering working in an Aerospace and/or automotive production environment
- Technical aptitude using standard quality tools, statistics, data analytics, trending analysis, monitoring, data collection, investigations, inspection
- Ability to create new processes, specifications, standard operating procedures (SOP), Control plans, Test plans, Inspection plans, Work instructions that the production can follow to ensure product quality consistency and process compliance.
- Collaborate and/or lead teams to investigate and identify root cause of escapes and perform analysis for validation of Drone hardware/assembly concerns causing quality and delivery issues
- RCCA/CAPA experience and is proficient with various RCCA tools (8D, 5why,3x5 why, Fishbone etc.)
- Create, maintain and present quality performance metrics to senior leadership and participate in the execution of quality continuous improvement program
- Ability to provide technical quality guidance to support and maintain a strong working relationship with flight test, maintenance, and engineering teams
- General knowledge of aviation standards, regulatory requirements, and policies including interpretation of technical manuals and engineering drawings
- Proficient in conducting audits and maintaining schedules while continuously improving observation, audit methodologies and closure of corrective actions for aviation operations
- Strong technical skills and expertise in the operations, airworthiness, or manufacture of aircraft and aircraft systems
- Will be expected to travel to other site locations as needed. (up to 20% of the time)

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related science field or equivalent combination of technical education/training and experience.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience in leading process development and improvement projects
- Experience working in Drone maintenance environment and setting up new processes Working knowledge of AS9110 Management System Certification/AS9100 Quality Management Systems
- Nondestructive testing (NDT) experience in Ultrasonic inspection (UT), Infrared thermography (IRT), Fluorescent Penetrant test (PT), Radiographic testing (RT)
- Automation experience/robotic inspection systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $93,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
