Job Description

The Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments and Response (SPEAR) Special Testing Team (STT) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and innovative physical security industry specialist. STT is responsible for engaging in information gathering exercises designed to drive bar raising physical security change at Amazon properties around the globe. Our teams test the assumptions, effectiveness and designs of physical and technical security measures by simulating real-world conditions. STT security industry specialists adopt an adversarial mindset to help mitigate against damage, disruption, theft and reputational risk. The data and observations from STT’s tests inform the company’s security risk owners and physical security business partners where gaps and best practices exist.

A successful candidate should have a demonstrated record of accomplishment and expertise within a specific set of physical security domains and embody Amazon’s 16 Leadership Principles. You will be expected to manage tight deadlines, maintain flexibility, drive results, plan, and coordinate detailed operational engagements related to the physical security of Amazon and its internal customers. This requires maintaining a high degree of situational awareness in a wide variety of global environments. You must also be able to perform strenuous physical activities, be willing to work in austere environments, and able to handle high-stress situations.

You will be required to follow the policies, procedures, and team rules of engagement without deviation and use high-value judgement when dealing with ambiguity. You must be an effective leader, able to operate autonomously, and maintain composure when managing rapidly-evolving situations. You will exercise discretion when dealing with sensitive information, and apply sound business principles and data analysis to identify problems and prioritize appropriate remediation. A day in the life
As a Security Industry Specialist, you will look to identify physical design, technical, mechanical, and behavioral gaps within the physical security space of Amazon sites around the world. We accomplish this primarily through discreet covert physical pentesting of Amazon facilities. You can expect to serve as a test team lead as you guide security industry specialists to provide meaningful impact for our internal customers. You will also partner with our customers to dive deep to identify best practices and risk-mitigation solutions for resolving issues in the physical and technical security space.

About the team
STT teams are comprised of security industry specialist subject matter experts and senior professionals in their domain. Each individual team is supervised by a regional manager. Every security industry specialist possesses a specific skill set that compliments the team's ability to identify and develop non-linear options for testing the physical security posture of a selected site. You will be an integral member of a team that leverages technical and mechanical means to accomplish the mission.

Basic Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience with subject matter level expertise working with and applying one or more of the following physical security domains:
- Access control systems
- Alarm systems
- Mechanical and electronic locking systems
- CCTV/Camera/VMS systems
• 3+ years of working in security, hazardous, or emergency situations
• 3+ years in a leadership role with demonstrated cross-organizational collaboration
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to concisely and effectively provide subject matter expertise to stakeholders and partners

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Industrial Security Design Implementation with hands-on experience building/designing and implementing security operations programs designed to safeguard people against a critical security incident and prevent unauthorized access to highly secured facilities
• 5+ years of experience applying Security Industry Standards, policies, and best practices with emphasis on industry safety, life safety, and/or International Building Codes (IBC)
• 3+ years of previous law enforcement, intelligence, military, technical, security, Red/Purple Teaming, with covert entry experience highly desired
• Possess specialized knowledge, skills and experience in covert methods of entry with specific emphasis on physical and technical surveillance, reconnaissance, and/or access control systems and defeat methodology
• Experience with collecting, analyzing, and evaluating OSINT for operational use and planning development
• Relevant experience applying risk assessment methodologies, policies, and processes
• Proven ability to accurately take decisive action based on available information in a timely manner
• Be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently or collaboratively with a team, and multi-task effectively
• Willingness to be active in the training, coaching, and development of the team and external organizations
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
• Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $91,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
