Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional regulatory and compliance attorney with significant experience counseling clients on environmental and safety requirements to help support Amazon’s environmental compliance, storage and transportation of hazardous goods, and extended producer responsibility teams in North America. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside several of Amazon’s compliance teams to support Amazon’s store, devices, and operational businesses and to build new and audit existing processes that raise the bar for Amazon’s compliance with environmental and safety requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for counseling on regulatory and operational requirements as well as impact the development and continual improvement of our state-of-the-art technology tools used in our operational facilities and stores. You will need to have high judgment, common sense, and an appetite for innovation when advising internal teams on environmental, hazardous goods, and extended producer requirements. You will also be responsible for leading Amazon’s proactive and reactive engagements with a number of federal and state regulators such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board. Successful applicants should be fast learners who are detail-oriented, customer-obsessed, able to work independently, and comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations. They will also need to be passionate about innovation, sustainability, and customer safety. Preferred location for this position is Arlington VA.

Key job responsibilities
• Providing day-to-day advice to Amazon’s Environmental Assurance and Protection, Dangerous Goods, Hazardous Storage, and Extended Producer Responsibility teams on regulations governing our operations, facilities, and products;

• Providing mission critical legal advice on the design of safety mechanisms and technology tools developed and used by the environmental compliance, hazardous goods, and operations teams;
