As a Director, Social Media Marketing Strategy with the CPGP Marketing Team, you will lead the strategic development of marketing plans for all CPGP social media handles across multiple platforms (inclusive of Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Snap Chat, Pinterest, and YouTube).  You’ll lead a team of social media marketing strategists to develop and execute compelling marketing programs to reach and engage target consumers.  The candidate will be an inspirational leader who will build strong business relationships with other executives and leaders across multiple internal teams including marketing strategy, creative advertising, PR and communications, customer engagement and franchise/commercial teams.  The Director will have experience working with internal and external agencies and social media influencers and content creators.  The position will report to the Vice President, Marketing Strategy CPGP.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the overall strategy for Disney CPGP social media programs (inclusive of multiple handles: DisneyStyle, DisneyBaby, DisneyFamily, StarWarsLife, DisneyPrincess YouTube, etc.), across a variety of social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube).

    • Develop comprehensive and cohesive social media go-to-market plans to enhance brand awareness, protect and improve brand/consumer sentiment, drive customer engagement and product crave, and support key business priorities.  

    • Manage the social media marketing strategy team in creating high-impact, compelling and engaging content that aligns to CPGP marketing objectives, company guidelines and business goals.

    • Collaborate closely with Disney leaders across Public Relations, Public Affairs, Customer Engagement, Brand Commercialization, Licensing, and Retail Marketing on social media programs and initiatives including content development and creation, influencer marketing, and paid amplification.

    • Lead the CPGP Social Media Marketing Strategy team inclusive of several direct reports and social media marketing strategists with various levels of experience.

    • Track trends, research, and consumer insights to guide the development of social media campaigns and tactics.

    • Work with your direct reports and team to track the implementation of programs; monitor and analyze social media tactics and campaigns to improve performance in real time and develop strategies to improve effectiveness of future programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant professional marketing experience in Social Media Marketing, Digital Marketing, Marketing Strategy, Brand Management, or Advertising.

  • Minimum of 3 years Executive experience leading a team of marketing professionals.

  • Deep understanding of social media platforms, best-practices in social media, and experience with leading compelling content creation, influencer marketing, organic and paid social media programs.

  • Proven proactive, strategic, and creative leadership experience.

  • Strong strategic planning and critical thinking skills.

    • Ability to successfully build, coach, develop and inspire a team of direct reports to do their best work and achieve business goals.

    • Experience in providing daily guidance to a team on a high-volume, fast-paced portfolio of social media projects.

    • A track record of driving compelling social media and influencer campaigns, delivering creative excellence, creating buzz, and positively impacting brand sentiment.

    • Strong vision, superior verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to manage and influence internal and external partners and stakeholders.

    • Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, build strong and sustainable relationships, and interact at all levels of the organization.

    • The ability to succinctly frame up a verbal or written POV/presentation.

    • Strong presentation skills with extensive experience in creating and presenting a clear and compelling narrative to influence key stakeholders including internal and external senior executive leaders.

    • Analytical experience in evaluating social media metrics and applying a data-centric approach to optimizing content.

    • Flexibility and proficiency in ambiguity and leading teams through changes in strategic direction and/or priorities.

    • Proficiency working in Keynote, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word programs.

    • An optimistic leader, with a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and a bias for action, who inspires people to do their best work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in Social Media Marketing and/or Marketing Strategy in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Consumer Products, Entertainment or Media Networks industry.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent

Preferred Education:

  • Master's in Business Administration

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $163,400.00 to $219,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographical region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
