Responsible for providing a variety of payment and receiving functions, including processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, cashiers' checks, money orders, and cash advances. Balances each day's transactions and verifies cash totals. Performs specific assigned side-jobs and assists other tellers with a variety of duties as required. Performs most complex teller functions as needed. Ensures that Members are promptly and professionally served. Provides excellent Member service with each Member interaction. Provides complete and accurate Member service using consultative sales techniques to retain Members and build Member loyalty. Follows cash control guidelines and safeguards Credit Union and Member assets. Assists Head Teller as required and needed. Follows Credit Union established policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance of teller functions within an advanced level of authority.
- Represents the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner.
- Identifies payees and Members by verifying signatures and endorsements.
- Receives share deposits in person.
- Receives loan payments in person.
- Process cash advances, travelers' checks, cashiers' checks, money orders, and similar transactions.
- Ensures that all Members' needs are met and commitments to them are kept, providing 5-Star Service to every member, every time.
- Disburses cash or check share withdrawals in person.
- Complete CTRs, as required.
- Process transfers.
- Order checks for Members' accounts.
- Follows established procedures for wire transfer.
- Takes stop payment orders.
- Opens and closes sub shares daily. Processes assigned cash and transactions and balances at end of day.
- Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.
- Ensures that Members' request and questions are promptly resolved.
- Operates on-line teller terminal. Provides in person such information as Members may authorize concerning their account status.
- Receives and processes change of name, addresses and such other account information as needed.
- Ensures that all Members are informed of Credit Union services and policies including eligibility for membership, types of available accounts, interest and dividend rates, payroll deduction options, and other related services and information.
- Maintains privacy of Member account information.
- Ensures that the Credit Union's quality reputation is maintained and projected.
- Assists area personnel as required. Provides guidance to Teller I. Assists with training or orientation as needed.
- Keeps supervisor informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns.
- Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Performs drive-up teller and night drop functions as assigned.
- Assists Head Teller as needed.
- Cross-sells Credit Union services.
- Performs related clerical duties as required.
- Opens and closes safe deposit boxes as assigned.
Education Level: High School or GED
Years of Relevant Work Experience: 1-3 Years
Preferred Training, Technical Skills, or Knowledge
Experience using Microsoft Office
Experience using a Check Imaging System
Experience using Episys
Experience using Synapsys
Experience using Springboard
Experience using Verafin
Abilities and Behaviors
• One year experience in the financial industry and credit unions is required.
• Experience in teller cash handling and cash dispense machines is preferred.
• Experience in sales is preferred.
• Excellent member service and verbal communication skills.
• Effective basic math and phone skills
• Ability to read documents and communicate clearly

Shift work including weekends consists of hours outside of an 8 - 5 schedule to cover the hours of operation.
The pay rate for this role in California is $17.85-$23.38 per hour.
The pay rate for this role in California is $19.95 to $25.00 per hour. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
