Job Description

Are you excited about delivering planning solutions for Amazon Logistics. Workforce planning product suite (WPPS) team is looking for a talented Data/Business Intelligence Engineer with a strong background in ETL, Data warehousing and interest in data mining, statistical modeling, linking data to key business trends. WPPS provides business solutions that enable seven business lines with accurate workforce planning solutions improving scale and reducing planning costs. This Data Engineer will design and develop ETLs that drive creation and improvement of timely, relevant, and actionable plans, recommendations that help associates, business leaders plan for labor demand. They will analyze data trends to understand behavior and key insights into future demand and will recommended targeted improvements. They will have an opportunity to work with big data and emerging technologies like Lake formation, Redshift, EMR and Spark.

A successful candidate will be able to speak the language of business and technical teams, taking business requirements and developing solutions to understand business impact. Key job responsibilities
1. Connect with business, product, technical teams in grooming a requirement to data engineering solution.
2. Design data schema and operate internal data warehouses and SQL/NoSQL database systems.
3. Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions.
4. Monitor and troubleshoot operational or data issues in the data pipelines.
5. Drive architectural plans and implementation for future data storage, reporting, and analytic solutions.
6. Work collaboratively with business analysts, data scientists, and other internal partners to identify opportunities/problems.
7. Effective team player with active participation and contribute in team level reviews, retrospection.

GSF Strategies Accelerator team is formed to provide scalable, production standard data platform infrastructure (database, storage, pipeline orchestration). The data platform will accelerate Workforce Planning Ecosystem (WFPE) mission for Labor Planning BI, data science teams. The teams’ vision is to provide reliable and scalable data processing infrastructure for (i) self-service plan prototyping, (ii) production workflows, (iii) data science model development.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA | Sumner, WA, USA

Basic Qualifications:

- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
