The opportunity

The selected candidate will: 

• Provide hands-on leadership of multiple teams in the delivery of a product or one or more capabilities of a large product or platform
• Takes accountability for the design, development, delivery and maintenance of a product/capability, driving compliance with and contributing to the development of relevant standards
• Fully understands business and user requirements and ensures design specifications meet the requirements from a business and technical perspective

 

Your key responsibilities

• Takes accountability for the design, development, testing, operation, delivery and maintenance of a product/capability   to satisfy user requirements
• Solves complex and escalated aspects of a project, performing coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the development process
• Provides advanced technical expertise to maximize efficiency, reliability and value from current products/capabilities, infrastructure and emerging technologies, showing technical leadership and identifying and implementing continuous improvement plans
• Develops strong working relationships with peers across Development & Engineering and Architecture teams, collaborating to develop and engineer leading products
• Provides a leadership role for the work group, ensuring the appropriate expectations, principles, structures, tools and responsibilities are in place to deliver the project
• Drives adherence to the relevant processes, procedures, standards, technical design whilst supporting the definition, maintenance and implementation of technology standards

 

Skills and attributes for success

• Advanced technical competency in designing, developing, and debugging productsAdvanced applied knowledge of Full Stack - .NET and Angular skillset ( .NET/SQL/Web API, Angular 6+, Type Script, HTML 5 and CSS3), and Mongo DB and Mongo DB Atlas
• Track record of building and delivering mission critical, scalable and highly available software systems
• Deep understanding of software engineering patterns and practices, Object-Oriented and SOLID design principles
• Strong understanding and applied knowledge of architecture and design patterns for highly scalable, available, and distributed systems.
• Advanced knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
• Advanced knowledge of REST and RPC service patterns and other client/server interaction models
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated results in delivering excellent technical designs

 

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, or related field preferred 
• More than 7 years applied experience
• Significant relevant experience in either a software or platform engineering role, or similar
• Advanced technical knowledge and experience in delivering software / platform engineering products (depending on specialism), providing comprehensive technical advice and leadership to other technical team members
• Project management experience in an engineering / development environment
• Significant relevant experience in building application using container-orchestration systems like Kubernetes, and container engines like Docker
• Significant relevant experience in building real-time data pipelines and streaming apps using Kafka,  and RabbitMQ message broker
• Advanced applied knowledge of programming frameworks (.NET, Spring, Node. Js, etc.) and scripting such as JavaScript, PowerShell, Python, Bash, SQL, C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, PERL, C++, R
• CI/CD delivery using code management, configuration management and automation tools such as GitHub, VSTS, Ansible, DSC, Puppet, Ambari, Chef, Salt, Jenkins, Maven, etc.
• Delivery using modern methodologies especially SAFe Agile, Iterative, Waterfall, etc.

 

Ideally, you’ll also have

• Experience with leading distributed teams to work towards engineering best practices.
• Experience in technical design development and review, with the ability to provide insight, guidance, and review at all levels from architecture to design and code.
• Experience building Cloud-native solutions (MS Azure preferred)
• Applied knowledge in patterns and practices related to software architecture & design, security, and project management
