Job Description

Are you willing to take the challenge of building a better working world, improving manufacturers’ performance in a dynamic, digital world?

The opportunity

Manufacturers have long pursued manufacturing excellence programs to continually improve the performance of their facilities and equipment. Many of those initiatives were successful for a time, but they’ve lacked staying power. Today, most manufacturers still struggle to achieve — and sustain — higher levels of performance. And now they also have to deal with escalating digital disruption that increasingly challenges their competitiveness and ability to grow.

Our EY teams understand how to improve productivity for smarter, faster and more advanced manufacturing. With our EY Smart Factory methodology and our unique partnership with P&G at the foundation, we help our clients achieve operational efficiency across the organization to build a better tomorrow!

EY has been rated one of the leading manufacturing consulting firms in the world, and very few organizations match the scope, scale, and ability to lead companies through a sustainable manufacturing transformation. For our growing Supply Chain and Operations practice in Belgium we are looking for a Senior Consultant – Manufacturing to strengthen our manufacturing team.

Your key responsibilities

  • As a Senior Consultant you support and (co-)lead project delivery teams improving our client’s business performance, in line with our Exceptional Client Service approach, while helping grow our practice outside of your client work. Drawing on your knowledge, skills and experience, you will start to build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers, support bids, proposals and thought leadership.
  • You will work independently as well as in teams. You will coach and support consultants and client team members, perform analyses and report finding and results. You will share your expertise with other colleagues in the manufacturing excellence team of EY Belgium, residing in the broader Supply Chain & Operations team.
  • In addition, you’ll actively establish and strengthen the relationships with our regional and global Manufacturing leadership teams and take part in our international communities.
  • Your knowledge and experience, combined with EY’s thought leadership on the future of Manufacturing and Maintenance, will allow you to provide innovative insights for clients, adapting our service offerings, solutions, and methods to fit the operational teams and cultural needs.
  • You are thorough and result-oriented and work together with the client on implementing solutions. You often work in an international environment on projects with a significant impact on company results.

To qualify for the role you must have:

  • A master’s degree in Industrial, Civil or Electromechanical Engineering, or related field with strong academic records;

  • A minimum of 3 years professional experience with a demonstrated track record of delivering sustained improvements in business performance, gained in industry and/or consulting;

  • Passion for the manufacturing/production/maintenance environment and you can rely on a first experience in this field; preferably combined with sector knowledge in FMCG and/or Life Sciences.

  • Proven experience in managing and improving production lines (preferably in the role of maintenance manager)

  • Proven experience in running improvement projects aiming to eliminate maintenance and breakdown related losses

  • Proven experience in managing and coaching shopfloor teams with a focus on the technical aspects of the equipment

  • Proven experience in working with computerized maintenance management systems.

  • Fluent language skills - written and spoken English, French and/or Dutch;

  • Knowledge and deep interest in manufacturing trends like Industry 4.0, (I)IoT, AI, Smart Manufacturing, Sustainability, Cyber Security

Ideally, you"ll also have:

  • A preference for sustainable solution development in stead of a ‘fix it when it breaks’ mentality.

  • Great coaching and leadership approach.

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, excellent communication skills & passion for winning;

  • Intrinsic motivation to help establish and strengthen relationships with our clients;

  • Commitment to support the development of others through coaching and counselling team members.

  • The capability to spot where to find new value in supply chain and manufacturing and explain it simple.
