ABOUT THIS ROLE
This opportunity is for a Senior Quality Assurance Manager overseeing Audible cross-functional features and services. We are embarking on a mission to delight our customers and reshape how quality engineering is done across all surfaces and devices within Audible. It's our responsibility to push Audible into new places; wherever our customers are listening. Achieving this vision means expanding and strengthening Continuous Delivery across surfaces as well as driving a strong quality culture. This role requires a strong shift-left data-driven mindset and experience enabling teams to improve product quality at scale.

As a Senior Manager, Quality Assurance, you will...
- Define the high-level vision and long-term direction for QA in your organization
- Manage scalable QA team structures and drive cohesive test strategies to ensure customer, business, and technology needs are met
- Collaborate and engage regularly with stakeholders, remote teams, and communicate effectively with senior leaders
- Have a strategic focus, yet retain an appropriate level of hands-on management
- Understand the functionality, architecture, business drivers, and technologies behind the products and systems your teams support
- Establish mechanisms that audit the customer experience, quality and, operational performance of the software tested by your team(s)
- Drive the adoption of best practices and regularly review business, performance, and operational metrics
- Coach and mentor high-performing managers and engineers, fostering their growth, knowledge, and ability to deliver, while promoting a high-growth and inclusive culture
- Actively build talent and teams by hiring, coaching, and mentoring quality engineers, proactively developing and promoting top performers
- Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to deliver customer-delighting software and foster innovation

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science or closely related field
- 10+ years of industry experience in quality assurance or software development
- 5+ years of hands-on software testing and/or development experience with expertise in Test Automation and Continuous Delivery
- 5+ years of experience managing quality engineering teams and developing technical direct reports (performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement)
- Experience in designing and building test tools and frameworks

Preferred Qualifications:

- Results oriented and with a strong customer focus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
- Experience with test and behavior driven development
- Experience being a manager of managers, growing managers to scale with the needs of the organization and working through others to accomplish the day-to-day work of the organization
- Demonstrated ability to make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience defining and championing best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experienced with building and architecting on AWS
- Action-oriented strategic thinker
- Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment - where change is the only constant
