On-site: This position requires an employee to be on-site on a full-time basis

Factory ZERO is our first, all-electric automotive assembly plant and the blueprint of General Motors' electric future! We have a corporate vision of “Zero crashes, Zero emissions, Zero congestion.” Our most novel products like the Hummer EV and Silverado EV will be assembled right in this facility. This requires us to employ the most upbeat, capable, and innovative talent to ensure we meet the challenges of developing the new manufacturing processes required to assemble these amazing products! The Role:

The Paint Shop Business Manager will be in charge of leading all aspects of department staff including onboarding, training, and labor movement. This job requires cross-functional communication with production, maintenance, and shop committee(s). This person has ability to work in fast-paced environments, using their independent judgement to make decisions that reflect what is best for the business. This position will require shift flexibility over 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift.

What You'll Do:

  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills
  • Lead production supervisors
  • Supports department floor operations and safety culture through audits, observation and incident investigation.
  • Strong knowledge of Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS)
  • Leads daily workforce within the department
  • Leads all aspects of KRONO's (timekeeping) for responsible area
  • Supports CIP workshops in the areas of SPQRCE.
  • Support unit manager to resolve workforce issues in conjunction with union.
  • Supports department problem solving initiatives
  • CAP development and discussion with direct reports
  • Must be able to support daily/weekend overtime and rotate shifts to support production needs. 

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Must be able to work on any shift
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years proven experience in Manufacturing/Assembly Plant
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership/supervisory/Group Leader role in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, manufacturing processes, and management systems as they relate to production operations
  • Proficient with MS Office applications

What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Paint/Body Shop experience highly preferred
  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
  • Experience with Fluid Fill Process Equipment, Alignment and DVT Process Equipment, Glass Cell Process Equipment, General Assembly Error Proofing Equipment (EPP Preferred) and knowledge of Atlas torque controllers and guns.
