We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney!

The Senior Manager, Project and Program Management is responsible for leading multiple teams and driving S/VP(s) portfolio(s) health insights that lead to decisions for actions. We have two openings, one supporting Domestic Parks and the other supporting Emerging Tech, Data & Platforms. You will also collaborate with the Portfolio owner(s) to create annual and long-term capital and expense plans, technology portfolio planning of projects and operations, capacity planning, prioritization, rationalization & reporting across the organization. In this role will use your knowledge of agile methodologies and technology delivery to collaborate with the development teams and to optimize the management of their delivery. You will collaborate with Executives to identify and communicate the organization’s portfolio priorities, including rationalizing work and aligning resourcing across all portfolios, and anticipating both risks and opportunities in accordance with financial goals and obligations. The Senior Manager will have a strategic view across the organization and influence the portfolio(s) to ensure the organization is effective in meeting the overall Portfolio health goals. This is a highly collaborative role where partnership with many technical and non-technical teams is critical.

What You'll Do:

  • Drive Site portfolio level (i.e. US Parks, CPGP, etc) accountability to meet overall Portfolio health and support teams with S/VP Portfolio(s) health
  • Communicate portfolio performance for executive consumption; increase transparency of risks and opportunities to drive portfolio decisions and actions.
  • Lead strategic planning and prioritization for Site(s), and support our team to lead for S/VP portfolios with their planner and Finance; provide deliverables for key finance milestones (Long Term Plan, Annual Capital Plan, Annual Operating Plan)
  • Successfully deliver rationalized and prioritized portfolio input to forecasts in alignment with key parameters (financial targets, ramp-up plans, project priorities etc.).
  • Anticipate risks and opportunities, share reporting & insights with a point of view to make actionable recommendations to the S/VP portfolio team(s) and Executives.
  • Have a continuous view of resource demand and capacity across the portfolio and proactively plan for leveled resource allocation across development and sustainment activities.
  • Strong understanding of the technology and the business to tell the ‘story’ behind the numbers.
  • Facilitate & recommend prioritization and rationalization decision-making with Executives.
  • Quickly identifying and resolve issues as they arise, driving resolution in partnership with Planning, Delivery and/or Finance teams and communicating issues to Executives as needed.
  • Build strong partnership and communication with Finance to collaborate and create results for forecasting, annual and long-term plans.
  • Create, collaborate, and evangelize standard processes & reporting that increase adoption and drive decisions, while seeing opportunities to continuously improve.
  • Effectively communicate (and support team), including difficult messages to executives, partners/teams, and finance.
  • Grow both the PPM team and the broader T&D delivery teams through training, coaching and mentorship.
  • Mentoring team members on executive presence for addressing leadership
  • Actively coaching team members to their next level of development
  • Ability to initiate change and act with integrity when tough decisions must be made.
  • Synthesize complex information into concise stories, identifying key themes and takeaways and present it back to Executives for decisions.
  • Support a growth culture focused on continuous learning and adapting to achieve our goals.
  • Play an active role in establishing the team through mentoring of talent and recruitment.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with software delivery preferred including full software lifecycle (development, maintenance, deprecation)
  • Practical experience in understanding technology project / product financial analysis, financial reporting and cause-of-change explanations across multiple teams.
  • Practical experience in product-oriented organizations using agile methodologies.
  • Expertise in variety of software delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile: Scrum, Lean, etc.)
  • Experience in Technical project management: estimation, project planning, resource planning, issue management, risk management, change management, communication planning.
  • Proven ability to work with finance teams as a key strategic partner including planning milestones (long term & annual planning)
  • Able to drive teams to meet deadlines and deliver under intense business environment.
  • Experience working with engineering and digital teams; and the ability to translate to a business/finance friendly story.
  • Excellent business communication, writing, and interpersonal skills with all levels of leadership.
  • Proactive, clear and solution-oriented when handling issues.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of leadership.
  • Practiced in negotiating with others in ways that result in win/win agreements and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated analysis/assessment capabilities.
  • Self-motivated and dedicated to performing above expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive complex forecasts and capacity plans and to effectively communicate risks and dependencies to Executives and business partners.

  • Proven track record to initiate change and act with integrity when tough decisions must be made.
  • Experience leading a team with varied strengths of professionals with the ability to inspire and motivate to produce quality work focused on execution and delivery.
  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities to ensure effective growth, development of team; effectively matching skills to roles for individual success.
  • Extensive experience with industry standard PPM tools; CA Clarity PPM experience preferred; reporting tool(s) experience preferred.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of portfolio & product management, product/project delivery, demand management, capacity planning and financial analysis leading to successful management of a portfolio.
  • Or Master’s Degree and 8+ years of portfolio & product management, product/project delivery, demand management, capacity planning and financial analysis leading to successful management of a portfolio.
