Job Description

Amazon Manufacturing Services (AMS) is the first manufacturing facility in all of Amazon. We specialize in on-demand manufacturing for internal Amazon customers using both a machine shop (CNC, waterjet, press brakes), and Additive manufacturing (3D printing) to make custom parts in a wide range of applications. We currently have 2 facilities in the Seattle area, with an eye to expand across the United States, and potentially the globe.

The AMS team is looking for a 2024 summer intern to inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, programs, equipment, and practices to ensure that they follow government safety regulations. Design and implement workplace programs and procedures that control or prevent chemical, physical, or other risks to workers. Conducts testing for exposure to known physical hazards such as noise, dust, VOCs and other IH testing as needed. Writes comprehensive, professional reports on the findings, and presents the findings to both the employees and leadership.

Key job responsibilities
- Audits Facilities for Safety Compliance with OSHA and WA State Regulations.
- Creates Reports on findings, follows up on Action Items.
- Maintains PPE and Safety Supplies.
- Assists with accident/incident investigations, follow ups, and any action items.
- Perform Hazard Analysis and recommend Mitigation Strategies.
- Performs IH testing for exposures as needed.
- Assists in training creation, and gives training to teammates.
- Misc. Safety Duties as Assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

- You are currently working towards a university degree in Public Health and Safety with an emphasis on Industrial Hygiene, or similar discipline
- You are eligible to complete an internship
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- You are willing to work to flexible schedules/shifts hours
- You are results-driven with analytical skills and the desire to innovate and simplify current process and practices
- You should have strong decision-making skills, and use sound logic to communicate
- You are able to demonstrate curiosity and pro-activity, which will allow you to gain greater autonomy in the course of the internship and make the most of your time with us to fully achieve your learning and development goals

Preferred Qualifications:

- Evidence of leadership skills – participated or led group projects, or other team building activities
- 3+ years into a university degree in Public Health and Safety with an emphasis on Industrial Hygiene
- Ability to work successfully in an ambiguous environment, to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload even when faced with conflicting priorities.
- Previous work experience – a summer job, internship; if it’s an experience in a related field or business, even better
- Advanced Microsoft professional suite or programs

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $22.84/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $51.54/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
