Your Role and Responsibilities

Our young and vital team enables open-source projects on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE. IBM Z and LinuxONE are our high-end servers. We implement the OpenShift portfolio jointly with Red Hat.

We work with open-source projects like Kubernetes, Istio, Knative, Tekton, Kafka, Strimzi, and many more.
We enable features for IBM Z and LinuxONE, and we deliver applications that take advantage of unique IBM Z and LinuxONE capabilities.
We see challenges as opportunities. Our expertise, along with flexibility, focus, creativity, passion and fun are the key values to deliver top class products. We work in small teams and collaborate closely with other IBM and Red Hat teams around the world.

What are your tasks?

Optimized scheduling is a key success factor in hybrid cloud environments. In our team, you will gain knowledge about existing scheduling algorithms and implementations. You will assess and develop new ways, including innovative AI approaches, in order to significantly optimize our scheduling algorithms.

You will work in a multi-cultural team and collaborate with fellow engineers around the globe. And you will learn about and contribute to the development of large IT projects.

What are your qualifications?


- You have a good bachelor's degree with an IT-related focus and a grade point average of 2.5 or better
- You are passionate about technology and software solutions: open-source development, hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence
- You have a strong engineering spirit: you enjoy solving problems and are willing to take on new challenges
- You like to take responsibility and actively contribute your ideas
- Your high motivation, communication and team skills, as well as your customer-oriented thinking and acting characterize you
- You have very good German and English language skills

What we offer:

Financial independence right from the start - through attractive remuneration. You have the choice between 15 or 20 hours per week.

Monthly salary with 20 hours per week:

1st year: 1,326 € gross per month
2nd year: 1,731 € gross per month
3rd year: 1,916 € gross monthly

Monthly salary with 15 hours per week:

1st year: 995 € gross monthly
2nd year: 1.298 € gross monthly
3rd year: 1.437 € gross monthly

Payment of semester fees as well as reimbursement of travel expenses to the university according to our guidelines
Expense allowance for master's thesis lump sum 2,500 €
IBM internal training offers as well as the possibility of badges/certifications
Personal support from the specialist department
Support with career planning as well as coaching and mentoring offers
