Job Description

The Manufacturing Electrical Process Integration and Development Lab is designed to address manufacturing engineering and operational needs to support GM’s virtualization objectives.  This lab will provide electrical bench equipment in support of software defined vehicles, build process strategy, and vehicle as a tester (VaaT). The purpose is to provide environments for development, evaluate, test, and integrate general assembly use cases.

This lab will assess the assembly process in which electrical components, circuits, or systems are installed and validated in a controlled laboratory environment. This testing is crucial in ensuring the functionality, performance, and reliability of vehicle electrical assembly process before it is deployed in real-world applications. The lab will collaborate with other teams in product development, manufacturing engineering and manufacturing operations to improve the overall manufacturing assembly process and quality.  
The Simulated Test Property Lead is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining vehicle simulation models for driver in the loop/virtual vehicle applications. They will aid in the construction and integration of the XIL model architecture to achieve correct operation and assess model accuracy against target hardware. They will tune/optimize/modify/develop vehicle mechatronic related plant models to achieve the required level of fidelity.  

KPIs for this position can include simulation quality, simulation capability and time to execute vehicle level software, and simulation error margin.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Physical hardware leads to align IO model to test properties.
  • Coordinate update of Models and vehicle test framework and ensure they are ready to support planned testing/development work
  • Create data capture strategy for model
  • Ensure issue resolution was performed timely and properly, own and drive issues to closure
  • Develop Model deployment strategy for large complex projects in AGILE like methodology
  • Vehicle Dynamics math model integration and tuning
  • Contribute to team agile planning activities and backlog prioritization and management
  • Identify, verify, report software integrations issues and bugs
  • Collaborate with to understand and develop strategies, models relating to their emerging demands
  • Drive innovation/adoption of Industry practices through investigation/institutionalization of New tools/methods/standards
  • Work with the development team to understand the technologies and develop / implement automated testing tools for data comparison and transformation

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering
  • 5+ years of work experience or equivalent
  • Experience troubleshooting distributed control systems
  • Understanding of embedded software development, testing and associated tools like vehicle serial data logger tools
  • Understanding of the end user’s experience with features on their vehicle
  • Proactive / results driven individual with high-levels of initiative to work with multiple organizations to solve integration issues
  • Working knowledge of Vehicle Development Process
  • Vehicle Dynamics experience and math modeling
  • dSPACE ControlDesk, ConfigurationDesk
  • Matlab/Simulink

Preferred Qualifications

  • dSPACE ASM, , ModelDesk
  • CarSIM CarMaker
  • AutoVal, GMSIM
  • Experience in Visualization software (Unreal, MotionDesk, CarSIM)
  • Experience with instrumentation interfaces
  • Demonstrates hands-on experience with automotive electrical interfaces like CAN, and LIN; experience with ethernet highly preferred
  • Experience with Unified Diagnostics Service, Vehicle Spy, network communication tools
  • Experience working on problem solving through software application/tools development
