Sr. Software Engineer, Web App Experiences

As a Senior Software Engineer you will focus on building experiences for our core streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client.  You’ll work with a team of other developers alongside systems engineers, service engineers, and project managers.  Our team uses modern server-side and web technologies such as JavaScript, Node and React to deliver scalable and elegant solutions for new product features and core site architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop core site functionality using Javascript (ES6+) HTML and CSS

  • Work on a modern stack including React, TypeScript, NodeJS, and Amazon Web Services

  • Prototype new features and research applicable technologies

  • Implement best practices to continually increase performance and scalability

  • Review code and pull requests to ensure product and design specifications are met

  • Work with product and project management to refine specs and timelines 

  • Partner with other engineering teams to deliver best solutions

  • Mentor and provide feedback to junior engineers

  • Maintain and support production streaming applications at global scale.                                                                                                                                                                    

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles

  • Experience working within a modern Javascript workflow through technologies such as: Git, CSS Preprocessors, Styled Components, Single Page Application frameworks and Module Bundlers (Webpack, etc).

  • Demonstrated ability to research solutions to complex problems

  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail

  • Driven and self-motivated

  • 5+ years relevant industry experience
                 

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with streaming video, large data applications, and analytics suites

  • Knowledge of SEO, accessibility, and web performance metrics

  • Experience integrating with REST and/or GraphQL APIs

Education

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent

The hiring range for this position in Connecticut, California, Washington, and New York is $136,100 - $199,870 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
