We're looking for a skilled, confident Instrumentation Specialist to support testing of Disneyland Resort (DLR) attractions and equipment. Cast Member will lead specific testing and instrumentation efforts in support of operational tests, added capacity, improved maintainability, performance optimization, and overall attraction improvement.

The Instrumentation Specialist will partner with Cast from DLR’s Operations, Engineering Services (maintenance), Engineering, and Project Management groups. Communication and planning skills are essential to ensure solutions address the specific issues and requirements that have been identified by the end users and maintainers.

The Instrumentation Specialist will use and maintain a variety of test equipment including accelerometers, data loggers, pressure sensors, strain gauges, and multimeters. You will report to the Manager, Ride, and Show Engineering.

This is a Full-Time role.

What You Will Do

  • Perform testing and data collection on attractions and equipment both in the field and in a lab environment.

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating the technical and administrative aspects of all tests.

  • Provide recommendations, with proposed actions and suggested priorities, for the improvement of test operations, safety, and efficiency.

  • Prepare company-compliant test scopes, plans, and reports (e.g. Operational Testing and Performance Testing) as well as the data analysis and writing of test reports.

  • Assist with the maintenance, inventory, and calibration of test equipment hardware and software.

  • Follow applicable company, state, and Federal legal codes, policies, and regulations.

  • Cast Members will be required to work different shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) to accommodate test schedules and support troubleshooting requests. May work weekends/holidays to support projects/attractions when needed.

  • Build/run project estimates and schedules, and give updates to project managers and engineering management.

  • Respond to Attraction downtimes supporting Engineering Services and Operations urgent needs.

  • Assisting Engineering and Engineering Services in troubleshooting attraction equipment.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with general testing and troubleshooting.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Experience working on and troubleshooting electrical circuits with voltage levels up to 480V.

  • Knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical safety NFPA, NFPA70, 70E Arc Flash.

  • Knowledge of the National Electric Code.

  • Knowledge of and experience troubleshooting electrical equipment including, Electrical Motors, Variable Frequency Drives(VFD), Inductive motors drives, Breakers (setting coordination settings i.e. long time, short time & ground fault), Transformers Y transformer or Delta transformer, Electrical Panels, Electrical Test Equipment.

  • Experience troubleshooting ground faults.

  • 5+ years of shown experience in a technical, testing, design, and/or fabrication environment.

  • Able to balance multiple projects/assignments concurrently.

  • Able to communicate technical concepts in writing as well as through verbal communication to technical and non-technical peers and management.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be great if you also have:

  • Shown understanding of power quality data loggers such as Dranetz or Fluke.

  • Shown knowledge of signal analysis using Oscilloscopes.

  • Previous experience in testing and instrumentation.

  • Some knowledge of control systems.

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) some programming knowledge.

  • Use of MatLab.

  • Knowledge of accelerometers, strain gauge tests, and analysis.

Education

  • Journey Level Electrician.

  • Additional Trade School Certifications are preferred.

The hiring range for this position in Anaheim, CA is $77,080.00 to $103.400.00 per year. The vase pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
