The Senior Director, Planning & Operations, Technology will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence for the Technology org, driving strategic initiatives to help scale the org, reducing operational burden for managers, and supporting the leadership team with strategic programs and projects enabling the organization. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement short- and long-range strategic plans with measurable goals that advance the organization’s vision and objectives and that enable the organization to scale and achieve its mission
  • Identify opportunities, strategies, and process improvements to achieve operational excellence for the Technology org; maintain and manage priority lists to meet long range plans for growth
  • Work with management team and business partners (Product Planning & Ops, Recruiting, Finance, Employee Success) to ensure excellence in all strategic and operational activities including staffing levels, budgets, and planning
  • Provide strategic thought leadership to advise and structure initiatives, identify key themes, develop mitigation plans, and make connections of opportunities across functional areas
  • Ensure our people, process, systems are built to scale for long-term growth
  • Drive internal approval and consensus building for org-wide challenges and initiatives to reduce churn and align
  • Assist with Technology audit and compliance management in partnership with audit teams

Specific projects to include, but not limited to:

  • Review and evaluate all processes, identify areas of improvement, gain buy-in, and drive operational efficiency enhancements for the organization
  • Manage all aspects of Infra headcount planning operations in partnership with Product Planning & Ops, Finance and Infra EngOps leaders
  • Manage the Futureforce headcount planning process in partnership with Product Planning & Ops, Finance and Futureforce recruiting
  • Streamline Budget management for organization, working with each functional team
  • Improve and manage recruiting process and headcount management in partnership with each functional team
  • Assist with Technology audit and compliance management in partnership with audit teams
  • Data analysis and reporting

Additional potential projects to drive operational excellence for Engineering:

  • Partner with Internal Audit on Technology audits to ensure they have the relevant context, connections, and conclusions
  • Partner with Accounting and Tax to streamline the processes for R&D tax credits and ICSW R&D capitalization, which are two manual, time-consuming processes for managers
  • Streamline and formalize Technology Rhythm of the Business to align with T&P rhythms
  • Partner with EngOps virtual team to align on priorities, processes, and streamline operations across Engineering
  • Partner with Procurement on software contract rationalization

This role requires:

  • In-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle and specifically the Technology & Product org - how we operate, how we deliver products/services, our tools & processes
  • Comfortable with engineering topics, able to understand technology, experience managing technical projects and delivery
  • Strong operational background and mindset 
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities 
  • Solution-oriented, data-driven, learning mindset 
  • Embodies trust. Must have high ethical standards and ability to exercise sound judgment 
  • Champions diversity of team, thought, and opinion
  • Strong presentation skills to help execute on exec-ready decks 
  • Strong quantitative skills to reinforce data-driven storytelling

Desired Experience:

  • 10+ years of well-rounded management and execution experience in positions of increasing responsibility
  • Demonstrated cross-functional communication and relationship building skills with Senior Leadership and C-Level
  • Very strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse team members and external parties
  • Ability to oversee a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure work environment
  • Experience creating dashboards and reports with Salesforce Analytics and Tableau
  • Understanding of product development processes, agile practices, and operational activities of a technology organization
  • On the ground experience with SaaS (preferred) or high tech
  • Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the Values & Behaviors for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer work, etc.).

For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $216,900 to $330,800.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
