Job Description

Rapid and Rural Logistics (R2L) is the team that powers worldwide operations for Sub-Same Day delivery (SSD), Amazon Today, and Rural expansion. We are at the forefront of ultrafast fulfillment and delivery innovation and are in the midst of building the next big thing. You will be working as a member of the Supply Chain and Topology team supporting faster than same day delivery across North America.
Our team owns capacity planning, topology and building design of our SSD Distribution Centers. We also develop long-term strategies for expansion planning and innovative fulfillment and distribution models. With ultrafast delivery becoming increasingly important for customers, DCs represent a critical link in the supply chain to enable low-cost sourcing, storage and replenishment of merchandise to our fulfillment center network. Our mission is to support the scalable growth of ultra-fast delivery to our customers while meeting instock, quality and selection availability goals.
We are looking for an experienced manager with a strong delivery record and leadership experience to own and manage strategic, cross-functional operations and business initiatives. You will use analytical, program management, and operations management skills to develop plans to execute. As a member of this team, you will be a thought leader and will work cross functionally to design the Amazon DC network of the future. This role will be focused on planning the long-term capacity of the SSD DC network and manage the building design requirements to ensure we offer the best-in-industry design. You will help craft new fulfillment concepts to integrate into our network to improve the overall customer experience and reduce the total cost of fulfillment.

Key job responsibilities
- Build capacity and building throughput models that can answer complex and integrated problems, balancing factors such as building capacity, speed, instock, quality, selection and fulfillment costs
- Drive innovation in simplifying business models and processes
- Work through ambiguity, develop business strategies with reasonable assumptions, and validate and modify assumptions along a project roadmap
- Manage large data sources and deep dive data to drive critical business decisions
- Collaborate with other teams to drive building design, capacity and topology models to execution
- Manage execution path of projects, evaluate risks and propose alternative paths if applicable
- Coordinate with field partners and other execution teams to continuously improve quality and customer experience
- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary; general manager / owner mentality

Basic Qualifications:

- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- 5+ years of supply chain experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications:

- 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
