Job Description:

Disney’s Direct to Consumer team oversees the Hulu and Disney+ streaming businesses within Disney Entertainment helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere. The Disney+ Programming and Content Curation team is responsible for leading content planning, scheduling, on-service merchandising, slate management, and programming insights that contribute to a cohesive strategic content approach for the service.

Job Summary:

The Disney+ Content Programming team is responsible for ensuring the Disney+ and Star+ global frameworks drive audience engagement and discovery with local relevance. The Manager, Content Programming will lead the implementation of merchandising strategies and workflow across services to improve audience engagement and discovery. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Content Programming.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and support Disney+ global content programming, promotion, retention, and engagement.
  • Develop and implement global editorial merchandising and promotion strategies to ensure consistency and alignment across all regions and territories.
  • Build, check, and publish programming within the CMS (Content Management System) and other toolsets.
  • Drive process improvement and build scalable solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify audience programming gaps and audience segment opportunities.
  • Coordinate impactful, carefully selected programming events that make use of The Walt Disney Company brands and franchises.
  • Partner with operational teams to ensure content and asset availability supports merchandising strategies.
  • Partner with product on testing new features in CMS to improve guest experience.
  • Collaborate with programming optimization to meet testing requirements and implement tests as necessary.
  • Partner with programming data & insights to act on findings.
  • Leverage service, market, and behavior data, as well as audience research to drive effective programming strategies.
  • Support and manage the professional growth of employees under your supervision.
  • Sustain existing projects and lead projects.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in digital media, programming strategy or content operations.
  • 1+ years of leadership experience managing direct reports.
  • Experience with the Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms, including hands-on management of web, app, streaming, and connected devices.
  • Strategic, creative, and entrepreneurial mentality.
  • Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; ability to complete multiple, high-priority projects, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be open to thinking outside of traditional models.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management, staff, and external research professionals.
  • Advanced data literacy.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at different stages of development.
  • Highly organized with excellent follow through.
  • Proven track record to work across a matrixed organization while also able to self-motivate.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive working in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion, insight, and a deep understanding of The Walt Disney Company segments, content library, brands and franchises, the elements that define them, and expertise to build further audience engagement is preferred.
  • Experience with Airtable is a plus.
  • Fandom experience is a plus.
  • Streaming experience is a plus.
  • International experience is a plus.
  • Multilingual fluency is a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

The hiring range for this position in CA is $102,000.00 to $136,700.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
