As a Cloud Engineer with Octo, you will join an Agile program responsible for the development, maintenance, security, and operational support of new and existing applications. You are a cross-functional DevOps Engineer skilled in developing open source, cloud-ready, microservice based applications using serverless frameworks. Program Mission…

This program will support the agency’s Information Technology mission to provide development and operational support of new and existing legacy mission-enabling applications. The team will work to modernize current applications by breaking them down into loosely coupled micro-services and leveraging a continuous integration / continuous delivery pipeline to enable an agile DevOps Strategy.

Years of Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Technical Discipline – Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree, [or the equivalent combination of education, professional training, or work experience].

Location: Remote, DC Metro area preferred.

Clearance: ability to obtain public trust security clearance



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • 4+ years of hand-on experience with building infrastructure and processes that support the software development and deployment lifecycle.
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Bicep)
  • Experience designing and implementing highly Available architecture and design, Azure Identities and Governance, Storage and Compute resources, Virtual Network configuration and hybrid connectivity solutions, Azure policy, and proactive monitoring.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of developing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) leveraging Terraform invoked through automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Good analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Experience with Azure and serverless compute technologies.
  • Experience with networking in cloud environments, specifically in Azure cloud.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs.
  • Comfortable with frequent incremental code testing and deployment.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing and dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Hands-on technical experience in at least one of the following areas: software development, system administration/deployment or cloud architecture.
  • Experience with Atlassian stack (JIRA, Confluence) or comparable Agile management software
  • Experience with git or other source management tools
  • Experience with DevSecOps, GitOPS, CI/CD concepts and associated tools, including application building, deployment automation (e.g. Gitlab Pipelines) and secrets management (e.g. Hashicorp Vault).


Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Azure Certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert)
  • Experience with Cloud Native tools and processes (ex. ArgoCD, Terraform, LinkerD, Traefik, etc.)
  • Understanding of government, commercial, and public cloud offerings, and limitations.
