About the Role & Program

KTRK-TV (ABC13) is an ABC owned television station (OTVS) located in Houston, Texas. ABC13, Houston’s news leader, is one of the most technically advanced television stations in the country! We are champions of innovation and are at the forefront of the changing media landscape. Our offices and studios are located in the Greenway Plaza area.

What You Will Do

The internship program is designed to provide you with an on-site educational experience that complements your academic studies. You will have an opportunity to participate in developmental programming and contribute to daily operations of a major market television station.

As the KTRK-TV (ABC13) Marketing Intern, you may:

• Create and publish marketing content for the website

• Gain valuable experience in posting new content to all social media platforms

• Exposure to all areas related to producing marketing materials for a news station

• Participate in production meetings, create promotional material, and learn how to prioritize assignments

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience posting to social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok)

• Experience editing video using Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software

• High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast paced environment

Preferred Qualifications  

• Major in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, Television and Film, or related field

• Completed coursework in Marketing/Digital Media or desire to pursue relevant career in the marketing/media field and/or a career as a multi-platform producer

• Experience in filming/capturing video with a DSLR or any type of camera

• Experience using Adobe Photoshop

Education

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

• Undergraduate students in their Junior or Senior year or recently graduated within the past 6 months preferred

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information

• Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

• Must be at least 18 years of age

• Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. 

• Must possess unrestricted work authorization

Additional Information

• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship

• Program length-- The approximate dates of this internship are January 2024 through early June 2024 ​

• Work details-- Must be fully available to work 25 hours per week during a Monday through Sunday schedule (hours and days to be determined by your supervisor and could include nights, weekends and holidays)

• Housing-- Must provide own housing for the duration internship program​ in the Houston, Texas area

• Transportation-- Must have reliable transportation to/from work​
