EduCativPosted October 22, 2020SharePosted October 22, 2020 At the University of Florida, we are a people of purpose. We are committed to challenging convention and ourselves. We see things not as they are, but as they could be. And we strive for a more significant impact: one measured in people helped and lived improved. At UF, we have some of the top faculty in the country. In addition to attracting over $700 million in research each year, they foster the uniquely collaborative environment that transforms potential into actual results. Our innovation does not end with our facilities - it is just the beginning. In fact, inside our classrooms, residence halls, and labs, you can help us keep even more incredible things growing - like the U.S. economy, where research dollars are invested into startup companies at five times the national average. We are not content to rest. We aspire to solve grand challenges, and in doing so, to propel UF to the very top tier of public universities. Our Go Greater campaign is an investment in the future of our state, nation, and the world, and YOU. Whatever you have your sights set on, that is merely the beginning. Gators see beyond the horizon. We measure success not in individual achievements but in where we go from there. Because when reaching our goals is just the starting point, there is no end to what you can accomplish as a Gator. We are The Gator Nation. We are a nation of individuals with great potential that's only surpassed by what we can accomplish together. Our commitment to pushing the world forward starts with pushing ourselves. We search our 16 colleges and then look through our library of 100 undergraduate majors and 200 graduate programs. Your path is waiting. No matter where you are, you can earn an undergraduate degree from the University of Florida. With an online bachelor's program ranked #12 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, UF is a leader in online education, allowing you to experience life as a Gator and graduate with the same prestigious degree as your on-campus peers. UF Online offers 20 majors across various disciplines, seven minors, and dedicated academic advisors to help students design their academic pathway. As Gators, we approach our Honors program like everything else — a little differently. At UF, Honors is a challenge aimed at students who want to make the most of their time. Recognizing the diversity of interests, we have a program that can be tailored by the student. Since honors students also live together and participate in a variety of service projects in addition to their studies, it is no surprise that these Gators are changing the world before they even graduate. The Gator commitment extends beyond our more than 200 research, service, education centers, bureaus, and institutes. We have boots on the ground in UF IFAS extension offices in all 67 counties in Florida, keeping our fingers on the pulse of the Sunshine State's needs. Whatever you have got your sights set on, that is merely the beginning. As a Gator, you will learn to see beyond the horizon. We measure success, not in individual achievement, but where you go from there. Because when reaching your goals is just the starting point, there is no end to what Gators can accomplish. At UF, we are continually finding ways to be active in the community. But even with a full plate, Gators are always hungry for more - for more chances to get involved and better ways to pursue better. With the Florida sun beaming down every month of the year, your pursuits at UF will not be restricted to the classroom. And with almost 1,000 student-run organizations, expect your calendar to be full all year long. With an active student body and an abundance of Florida sunshine, recreation is a big part of life on campus. We offer more than 60 intramural and club sports, personal training, a midnight fun run, and one of the country's best fitness facilities. Whether it is a student government that manages one of the most massive budgets in the country, a student body that volunteers more than 3,000 hours of service a year, or mentoring 30 minutes a week, Gators are working for a greater purpose. Gators see things differently. We measure success, not in awards, but in lives saved. We think advancing progress is more important than advancing statistics. And significant breakthroughs are not caused for a victory lap. They are just paths to even bigger ones. Every day, we are striving for a better world through better research. At UF, our research leads us to collaborate across departments, the state, the nation, and the world. Together, our focus is on improving lives—not just in the lab or in theory but also real life. Because we are not just discovering breakthroughs or developing new products, we shape the minds that shape the future. It is a process that leads to not only stronger minds but better brains. For example, our McKnight Brain Institute is one of the nation's most comprehensive and technologically advanced centers devoted to discovering how the normal brain operates and how we can repair the brain following injury, disease, or aging.View full universityQuoteLink to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options...
