Imagine a school that frees you to find the extraordinary, God-given talent that makes you STAND OUT. Welcome to Episcopal High School, a co-educational, college prep experience that stokes boundless potential with unlimited opportunity. For more than 30 years, we have set the standard in helping students realize their promise. We do that by challenging you to see things in bold, new ways. Here, you will discover everything you can do and everything you are meant to be.

Episcopal High School is an institution of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, established to provide a superior education in preparation for college and meaningful life after that. Through a rich offering of academic, spiritual, artistic, and athletic programs, the School provides each student with an opportunity to reach their maximum spiritual, intellectual, social, and ethical potential. Operating as a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church, EHS in its teaching philosophy emphasizes understanding and responding to the individual needs and capabilities of each student. To reflect the community we serve, EHS strives to maintain a student body representing social, economic, ethnic, and academic diversity.

Like all family systems, EHS has established those guidelines and boundaries necessary to preserve order, enhance general welfare, and protect individuals and the community. All students are expected to exercise sound judgment in their actions and to show an abiding concern for themselves, groups, and the community itself. Students must value the privilege of being associated with EHS. Parents, too, need to be vigilant, cooperative, and eager to honor and assist the School’s efforts, endeavors, and spirit. Recognizing that “attitude is everything” is a useful guideline to honoring the School community and its decision-making process. Respect and personal honor, reflected in daily attitudes and behaviors, are expected of those who belong to, serve, and support genuine community:

  • EHS will continue to provide a healthy, spiritually based, college-preparatory education for the average-to-exceptional student.
  • EHS derives its identity from being a Christian community within the beliefs and traditions of the Episcopal Church. Furthermore, without compromising its underlying faith, traditions, and practices, the School acknowledges and respects the freedom and variety of religious experiences among its faculty, staff, and students.
  • EHS emphasizes the development of sound character, integrity, and personal honor; consequently, in every aspect of a student’s experience, EHS will instill honesty, respect for self and others, fair play, and appreciation of diversity, and service to the community.
  • EHS admits qualified and motivated college-bound students with average-to-exceptional abilities and a wide range of interests and activities, creating a diverse community of students admitted without regard to race, religion, or social/economic background.
  • The student body must be large enough to ensure the School’s program's viability, but not so large that the School’s family atmosphere is diminished.
  • EHS will recruit, sustain, and appropriately compensate an administration and faculty of the highest academic and moral standards committed to the School’s mission and students' education and nurturing.
  • As a shared responsibility, education succeeds when both School and parents exhibit an understanding of, respect for, and dedication to the individual, the family, and the School community.
  • EHS will cultivate with its students and their families a relationship that will last the rest of their lives.
  • The successful accomplishment of the School’s mission requires facilities appropriate for the School’s activities.
  • By adopting sound policies, providing a robust financial base, and promoting the School on the broader community, the Board of Trustees assumes ultimate responsibility for ensuring that EHS accomplishes its mission.

Every Knight is full of brainpower and creative energy. We help our students free it. How? Small, intense classes and state-of-the-art facilities, for starters. Plus, mind-opening courses: Through our Interim Term, students travel to experience Chinese culture first-hand, uncover the complexity of baseball statistics, and design their runway fashion shows. EHS teachers are experts at spotting talent, drawing out strengths, and pushing students to be fearless explorers. They challenge you to question, test, reimagine, and reinvent the world.

Through a rich offering of over 180 courses across the Four Pillars, EHS helps students develop independence and self-direction, creative problem-solving skills, intellectual curiosity, persistence, and open-mindedness. Our goal is to equip students with skills and concepts to apply successfully in new situations, question assumptions, evaluate information, and make courageous decisions. Our arts programs teach students to see, experiment, invent, and imagine in ways that are an inherent part of the creative process. Academic classes in religion strengthen both the intellect and the spirit. A thoughtfully designed and varied curriculum in wellness and the many athletic offerings provide students with many opportunities to enhance their physical health. The faculty of 92 men and women, with over 60% holding advanced degrees, is committed to preparing EHS students for college and meaningful life after that.
