We look forward to receiving your application.
We are committed to assisting students and their families in meeting their financial obligations to the institution. Admissions decisions are based on the applicant's academic and personal qualifications, not on the ability to pay. The goal of the Office of Financial Aid is to help students make their education affordable.
The Sandhills Program of St. Andrews allows "nontraditional" students the opportunity to finish their college education through evening classes without disrupting a career or family life. Programs include the Bachelor of Arts in Education with a concentration in Elementary Education and courses leading to Teacher Licensure. Also, St. Andrews now offers complete programs in Special Education and Middle Grades Education. Also available are the Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, Psychology, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Classes are held in the evening, Monday-Thursday, on the campus of Sandhills Community College. Based on needs and in consultation with advisors, students may enroll in classes through The Sandhills Program, St. Andrews online, and on the main campus in Laurinburg (day classes).
Whether taking classes on campus or online, our mission is the same, to provide each student with the resources and learning opportunities necessary to acquire the skills, knowledge, and qualifications for a lifetime of success.
St. Andrews welcomes international students to join our campus. We have a long history of international students attending St. Andrews and an intense study abroad program. St. Andrews is located in southeastern North Carolina, USA.
At St. Andrews, you experience close relationships with your professors who know you by name. St. Andrews appreciates and respects world cultures. There is genuinely an international flavor at St. Andrews, with five percent of our student body comes from 26 different countries each year. We welcome both domestic and international students who will contribute to our diverse academic and social community.
At St. Andrews, an international student, will find a friendly community interested in his/her personal development and growth. Student advisers are available to provide each student with the helpful information in advance of enrollment and work with him/her on campus in many matters of personal concern. Advisors seek to promote better cultural exchange in the St. Andrews family and the wider local area. A member of the faculty serves as an academic adviser for each student. The adviser helps the student plan a curriculum best suited for his/her needs. Members of the student development staff are available for counseling in student life, career interests, and personal concerns. The health center provides minimal health services and arranges off-campus medical care when needed.
In September 1961, the first students stepped onto the grounds of a spacious, lake-centered campus that had been named St. Andrews Presbyterian College only a short time earlier. Long before the arrival of those first students, Presbyterians across North Carolina, laity and clergy, had committed themselves to this new adventure in higher education.
The history of St. Andrews began in 1896 with the founding of Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, NC. In 1958, Flora Macdonald College merged with Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton, NC, to establish St. Andrews. In 1996, St. Andrews celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of its heritage by hosting various events and celebrations. In honor of the occasion, 800 plus alumni, faculty, students, staff, and friends gathered for this birthday party to recognize the three institutions' shared history.
The history of St. Andrews offers a consistent record of academic innovation, recognitions, and accomplishments far out of proportion to the college's small size and limited human and financial resources. It has repeatedly demonstrated an ability to recognize needs that were not being met by the prevalent higher education cannon of pedagogical strategies, texts, programs, or assumptions. It has also combined its visionary thinking with successful academic planning to translate insights into concrete, efficacious higher education innovation.
Andrews University, a branch of Webber International University. As part of the transition from college to university, St. Andrews offered its first graduate-level program, the Master of Business Administration program, starting in 2012.
For over 50 years, St. Andrews has provided students with a close-knit educational environment that is slightly different from other small liberal arts and science schools. At St. Andrews, what you learn both inside and outside the classroom creates a sense of intellectual and social engagement that will empower you to make a difference in your community, profession, and the world.
