From its beginnings as a regular school that trained teachers for the developing frontier, SJSU has matured into a metropolitan university offering more than 145 areas of study with an additional 108 concentrations.

San José State University's Financial Aid and Scholarship Office assist students in securing federal, state, and university financial aid to achieve their educational pursuits. Each year, SJSU awards and administers more than $425 million in financial aid to eligible students. Students receive aid in scholarships, grants, work-study, and loans, which help them focus on their education and complete their degrees.
