San Diego Christian College (sdc), as an academic and learning community, aims to prepare academically equipped, culturally, and globally involved graduates with a biblical worldview and godly character to serve God.
As one of the top Southern California Christian colleges, san Diego Christian college (sdc) exists to educate and inspire students through the truth of ScriptureScripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world.
As we look toward the future, we will continue to adapt and innovate our resources while upholding the mission and values that have guided the institution since its founding in 1970.
Driven by our mission, our Executive Summary is comprised of three strategic initiatives and six priorities. The three strategic initiatives – academically equipped, biblical worldview, and culturally involved – provide the framework that guides our efforts to deliver transformative Christian education with global opportunities while building lifelong relationships. The six priorities allow us to define how and what we will focus on in the years ahead.
At San Diego Christian, we believe that God has created you for much more than just getting a job and waiting for retirement. Jesus told us that He came to give us a new life that is worth living! And while that includes studying and preparing for your career, it also means growing and developing into the person you were created to become every day. So, while a portion of your time in college will be spent in the classroom, there is so much more to being a student and living life during your stay here, and Student Life and SDC exist to help you make the most of each of those moments.
Life is meant to be lived and enjoyed! While there will be times when it takes hard work and dedication, we also want your time in college to be a memorable one filled with laughter, great friends, and a vibrant social life shared with people living with and for the same purpose as you.
Here at SDC, we will strive to create exciting opportunities to help you connect with other people, get plugged in, and make the most of your time here. It is our goal that years after graduating from SDC, you will think back on your time here and smile!
Since we are created in God’s image and called to know and love Him, there is nothing more vital to living a truly successful and fulfilling life than to grow and develop in your relationship with and commitment to Jesus. This is the foundation upon which a healthy and fulfilled life must be built.
To be a disciple of Jesus requires that we pattern our life off His example. This is especially true regarding His model of service and self-sacrificial love for others. As Jesus came, not to be served but to serve others, we too are called to model His servant leadership to the world around us.
So here at SDC, we will challenge you to engage the world through service and giving of yourself and your time to help others both within the school community itself, as well as throughout San Diego County and beyond.
San Diego Christian College (SDC) was founded in 1970 as Christian Heritage College (CHC) by Drs. Tim LaHaye, Art Peters, and Henry Morris desired to equip students with an education that trains both mind and heart. The first degrees were awarded in 1973. Soon after, the college moved campuses to share a 32 acre complex with Shadow Mountain Community Church.
In 1976 Christian Heritage College was awarded the status of Candidate for Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WSCUC) and was given full Accreditation in 1984. The college is also a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU).
In 2005, Christian Heritage College became San Diego Christian College, and in 2014, SDC moved to a new campus in Santee. While the name and location have changed, the mission remains the same: to educate and inspire students through the truth of ScriptureScripture and the development of competencies that prepare graduates whose purpose is to impact the world.
