Secondly, Oakland City University is committed to the spiritual formation of our students. Founded by the General Association of General Baptists in 1885, the University's roots are enriched and well-grounded in Christianity. We provide students with an environment conducive to spiritual growth and a support system that encourages students to live a Christian service life in their chosen careers. Oakland City graduates are serving the world in a great variety of missional vocations. Additionally, Oakland City University provides the practical experiences necessary for our graduates to succeed in the world of work. These practical experiences are provided through internships, mentoring programs, career counseling, and onsite field experiences. Our students graduate with the knowledge, skills, and ethics to make a difference in the world.
After undergraduate success, many of our students return to the campus to continue their educational pursuits, enrolling in graduate programs. Oakland City University offers many study programs at the masters level, including the Master of Art in Teaching, the Master of Business Administration, and the Master of Divinity.
Oakland City University also offers programs at the doctoral level. Degrees can be earned in the Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and the Doctor of Educational Leadership. These terminal degrees prepare the student in a specialized field, and our graduates are recognized as significant contributors to the body of knowledge in their areas of expertise.

Oakland City University's academic programs are organized into five schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, which includes Adult and Extended Learning, the School of Education, and Chapman School of Religious Studies, which includes Chapman Seminary.
