It offers accredited Bachelor´s study programs with the standard length of six semesters and follow-up Master´s programs of four semesters. The study programs provide a well-balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills following the needs of the regional labor market. The theoretical background allows the graduates to follow on in a subsequent Master´s degree study of similar orientation while obtained practical skills and competencies enhance their employability. Students gain practical experience through a work placement (12 - 32 weeks in total, depending on the study program). Nearly 2000 full-time and part-time students are enrolled in the programs at present.The language of instruction in most programs is Czech. However, the Bachelor´s degree program of Finance and Management taught in English has got accreditation recently. Some courses are offered in foreign languages (English or German). Exchange students from partner universities coming within the Erasmus+ program can choose from courses taught in English.The College of Polytechnics Jihlava provides education as well as applied research, development, and innovation services in various fields of study. It focuses on meeting the needs of the regional labor market, the needs of companies, corporations, and public administration. It is involved in various research projects and holds conferences nationally and internationally, and it publishes two journals. It is the only College in the Czech Republic that runs its travel agency with a tour operator.It offers a wide range of life-long learning courses both for the private and the public sectors. Recently it has developed into a center of adult education, namely as a provider of Third Age University programs with nearly 900 participants. Students from EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland, do not need a visa to study in the Czech Republic. The passport or other EU ID card must be valid during the stay. Check the date of your passport expiration. All foreigners staying in the Czech Republic longer than 30 days must register at the Foreign Police department within three days after their arrival. However, if you stay at the College student hostel, this will be done for you by the hostel office.The College of Polytechnics Jihlava is also successful in developing international cooperation through international projects and the Erasmus+ exchange program. It has 50 partners among higher education institutions in 20 European countries. It encourages and supports its students to gain international experience through international workshops, study stays, and training abroad. More than 130 students participated in exchange programs with a financial contribution from the College in 2014. It gives students and staff opportunities to develop their skills and boost their employment prospects. Good practices will be shared between universities and businesses in Knowledge Alliances. Higher education institutions from participating countries can work with those from neighborhood countries, non-EU Balkan countries, Asia, Africa, and Latin America to develop their educational systems. If you wish to study, participate in academic exchanges or cooperate with the College of Polytechnics Jihlava, please contact the International Office.One or two foreign languages are part of compulsory curricula (depending on the degree program). All full-time students have to complete at least one course taught through a foreign language in their studies. The number of foreign language options, followed by VSPJ students, is not limited. The portfolio of languages taught contains English, German, French, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.Incoming students may enroll in semester-long Czech language courses (2 ECTS). Both home and incoming students can improve their language competence in the courses organized within the British Council Examinations Centre, which is part of the College.The College of Polytechnics Jihlava (VSPJ) pays special attention to building links and developing international cooperation both in education and research. It has established exchange relations with 40 universities all over Europe, most often within the Erasmus+ program or bilateral cooperation projects.The College hosts international students, receives international visitors and lecturers, and organizes international conferences. Some 60 VSPJ students spend a semester at partner universities (study stays, traineeships) within the Erasmus+ program, other 80 VSPJ students and staff participate in project weeks´ mobilities abroad.
