YMCA of Hong Kong Christian College ("YHKCC") was established in September 2003. It is the first secondary school sponsored by the YMCA of Hong Kong. Our school, which is operated under the Direct Subsidy Scheme of the Education Bureau, uses English as the medium of instruction and we are the only English-medium school in the islands district in Hong Kong.
YHKCC now has over 70% international students from over 40 countries, offering a dynamic international environment for students. All of our teachers are university graduates 38% of our teachers possess master's qualifications and 1% have doctorates. Over 42% of our teachers are from overseas including UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, France, Spain, Japan, and India, etc. They bring with them their own country's history and culture. Our student's education is enriched by this cultural diversity which gives a great preparation for life in today's globalized world. We aim to enable our students to become confident and happy 'global citizens, with equal respect for and values of one other's cultures.
The school is a learning community where quality education, based on Christian beliefs and values, is offered in a joyful and stimulating setting. We believe that the foundation of this learning community is the partnership among teachers, parents, and students.
Students come from over 40 different countries to study at YHKCC, most of them can manage 3 different languages. At the school you will find a lot of smiling faces learning inside and outside classrooms confidently, playing sports and music with pride. YHKCC is currently operating 38 classes in 6-year groups, the average class size is around 25. We offer both Hong Kong (HKDSE) and International curricula (i.e. IGCSE/ GCE A-levels) to our students and you will see, at the school, a well-developed pastoral system (SGDS), different students support services, various extra-curricular activities, lots of English language support, good facilities and dedicated, hardworking teachers.
